Had these before. Perfect storage solutionAnonymous reviewerBrought some more of these for my daughters bedroom because they are great solution for storage as they easily made as one or more shelves can be made into interesting things to put stuff into thank you IKEA5
Good qualityAnonymous reviewerI’ve read some not so good reviews of this product, but like some others have said, if you follow the instructions carefully the finished product is really good.
I’ve built countless IKEA units over the years, and after the initial pain period at the start, the other nine units came together in about five minutes each.
I found the quality extremely good, with lovely finished corners. I liked the way the pieces fitted together and ever fixed to the wall with the brackets perfectly.
I would definitely get more, however I’m now hesitant about getting ones with doors, after reading some negative reviews! Might need to try one and see.5
Needs clearer instructionsAnonymous reviewerBought a couple of boxes to wall mount. Clearer instructions needed imho - first, for wall mounting a SEPARATE bracket needs to be purchased, this wasn’t pointed out in the showroom and eventually saw it hidden in a drop down online. Second it’s not immediately clear that one of the side panels has a deeper groove to slide in the back board.
I can live with the second, but not making it clearer that a bracket is needed means another 2hr round trip.4
Zero stars! Avoid avoid avoid!Anonymous reviewerVery handy person here,
Listen to other reviews also, all EKET boxes have MAJOR designs flaw, they cannot be put together due to having back MDF plate sitting into groved channels which stops the walls from connecting together. You will NOT be able to put it together unless you trim down the back MDF plate, needs at least 1cm trimming.
And to top on this, the material is DEPLORABLE, VERY VERY VERY bad quality, the worst quality ever bought in IKEA. Buy something else, if you don't trust me then learn the hard way.1
Ideal storageAnonymous reviewerIdeal storage for small spaces5
Nice but very easily scratchedAnonymous reviewerThese look nice when built, easy but fiddly build - read the manual carefully. When building place on a soft clean surface as the grey marks and scratches super easily. Be mindful when moving it into place also due to this. I’m not confident for their longevity but we’ll see. 3
Simple - if you follow the instructions!Anonymous reviewerAll the reviews saying the last piece is impossible to fit in - I noticed this at first, then realised that if you dont start with the side stamped with a number one then this is indeed the case. This piece looks identical to the matching bit on the other side - but has a deeper groove cut for the backboard - this isnt at all obvious. Basically - pay attention to the instructions!5
Follow the plan. Easy!Anonymous reviewerI bought 9. I made the mistake of deviating from instructions at the start and found myself in a frustrating pickle! Have patience. Stick to guidance! Straightforward to put together. Love how quickly these transformed my space. Buildable storage solution. Looks great5
Ikea Eket Anonymous reviewerI love these cabinets, I have several of them, you can arrange them in many ways 🤎5
Good boxAnonymous reviewerVery good box5
Theory and practice are indeed differentAnonymous reviewerI ordered 10 of these to keep books and other items in my new bedroom. These were delivered as part of a larger order (which I'm happy with) on Thursday and started assembling one yesterday. There is no issue as it looks flush as intended, the assembly was also going well but fitting the last panel with the back covering is an absolute pain with a gap between that and the rest of the panels meaning it is sticking out slightly which not to mention is not secure to put anything in it.
Given the current situation, I'm considering returning the other nine unopened boxes and getting something similar to do the job. 1
GreatAnonymous reviewerAmazing and perfect, however the building process may be a bit challenging4
Critical Design Flaws - Should have bought a Kallax.Anonymous reviewerBought these as an upgrade from another 2x2 Kallax shelf, at around triple the price (for 4 cubes) we expected better quality. The units have thicker walls, back boards, and a better selection of colours, as well as more versatility... However, when constructing these the tool-less build was a nightmare once it came to attaching the top piece in what I assume is design negligence or poor quality control, the back board is too large so it stops the top piece for coming into place. We cut down the back board and hammered the units together to brute force the bad tolerances. This has left the units damaged and slightly uneven. In the end they look nice but they took over an hour to construct. 3 out of the 4 units didn't go together without modification or harsh persuasion.
The sloppiness of Eket is a complacent abuse of Ikea's very positive reputation for effective budget furniture. I will never make the mistake of shopping their with blind confidence again.2
Issue with size of cubesAnonymous reviewerPurchased 2 of these along the 4 cube unit to give a tiered storage unit as seen on the website. The unit looks great and I love the tiering. However, the two separate cubes are very slightly smaller than the main unit. This means the boxes I bought from ikea which said they were compatible fit the main unit but not the extra cubes! So I would recommend the unit but I would buy 30x30x30 boxes from another store which is what I have now done. 1
Brilliant itemAnonymous reviewerBought this item to finish my living room as I have the full set and a three piece unit also5
Not the same quality ofAnonymous reviewerNot the same quality of the Kallax cube but needed smaller for my project good value for money and easy assemble won’t hold as much weight as I thought.4
Lovely but hard workAnonymous reviewerI have a couple of these in various arrangements, but never before have I had to jump and stamp on an item to get the sides to slot together. How I've not damaged myself or one of the units I've no idea.
The units are great storage though especially if you are using them with box inserts. A suggestion for the development team is to make a shelf for these units. I've put ornaments on some of mine and they look lost within the internal height of the unit. A shelf (possibly in glass) would mean I could double stack.4
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerI found these units very frustrating to put together, the instructions were not helpful and I wasn't really happy with their appearance or function. The clips that hold the units together were a nightmare to install - and i had to buy a further two packs because I wasn't given enough - to be honest I should just stuck with Kallax - it would taken a fraction of the time to build!1
OK once builtAnonymous reviewerThe video shows the woman just clicking the sides into place. 3 sides, fine, the last side with the back in place required a lump hammer.3
Worst product ever!Anonymous reviewerI didn't read the reviews because this is an IKEA product and I had never ever before been disappointed with IKEA. However, this is a very bad product. The video is not even close to the reality, it does not show that the product needs a hammer. It takes a lot of strength and it cannot be done without a hammer. Unfortunately, I used a hammer and not a rubber mallet so one side got chipped. Whose fault is it really though? I managed to assemble two of them in more than an hour each, for the third one I cannot align the fourth side for the life of me. I haven't mounted them on the wall yet, I'm afraid this will be further disappointment. I can't believe this is an IKEA product. 1
