Great product and great value!Anonymous reviewerHave used it as a desk top which sits on top of Malmo units.5
Defective Worktop & Very Poor AftercareAnonymous reviewerI purchased the EKBACKEN worktop expecting a durable, everyday kitchen surface, but my experience has been extremely disappointing.
The worktop developed issues that I firmly believe are defects, not simply the “normal” matt finish or speckled appearance IKEA claims. This is in a household of just two adults, no children, and the kitchen is used normally.
What’s particularly frustrating is that the surface requires constant wiping, as water marks appear very easily and do not match expectations for a practical kitchen worktop.
My warranty claim was rejected despite providing evidence, with no real support or resolution offered. As a result, I will now be replacing the worktop at my own expense and will not be choosing IKEA again. This experience has impacted my confidence in both the product and the level of support provided. Very disappointing overall.1
Excellent value worktopAnonymous reviewerI bought this to use as an office desk and am very pleased with it. Very good value for the size.5
AvoidAnonymous reviewerWanted some marble effect worktop for our en-suite and this looked lovely in the picture.
Paid professionals to remove old worktop around sink and replace using this today. When I returned I was so disappointed I could cry. The labour alone will have cost me a few hundred and honestly it’s terrible quality. It looks like really cheap poorly finished mdf shelving. The edging is dire to say the least and looks like it will lift further at the first bit of moisture. Live and learn. I so wish I splashed out on some nice sparkly quality worktop now. Don’t make the same mistake. It’s dull and very cheap looking and the edging is really awful.1
Breakfast barAnonymous reviewerWe used the Ekbracken to make a great breakfast bar in our kitchen. it was easy to do and looks amazing. The grandchildren love sitting up there.5
AVOIDAnonymous reviewerHave been advised by IKEA that this is not a countertop not to be used near sink areas (ironically if you look at the product photos you'll see it advertised with a sink...). Had this installed 18 months ago and the worktop has failed around the tap due to poor installation. When trying to enact the warranty clause (I went with an approved IKEA fitter), IKEA aren't interested and contradicted the IKEA appointed kitchen surveyors report from a call centre. Currently still paying the kitchen off and with hindsight I would have gone with their competitors a million times over to avoid any of the hassle.1
Good VFMAnonymous reviewerCompetitive price and absolutely fine for the utility room it was bought for!5
SplashbackAnonymous reviewerOriginal order was lost ! Took another 2 months for replacement to arrive so need to find suitable time to fit in a now busy kitchen. As electric sockets need isolating to fit & Sparky to reinstall. Quality seems OK but now need a break in the weather for cutting outside.5
Looks good but stains and bucklesAnonymous reviewerLooks great but the ends warp and buckle with even a small amount of water and it stains easily even with tea even though we wipe spills straight away. Very disappointing as we can't replace easily. We now have to have something to hide the ends as it looks really bad. I wish I had paid more for a better quality product3
EKBACKEN Worktop, white lively marble effect/laminateAnonymous reviewerNice finish great quality very happy5
Good valueAnonymous reviewerGood value product. Finish is not as good as precious products I ha e had but this may be down to.proce as I only needed a value product for a utility room. Especially economical as I purchased the two different sizes available to minimise waste4
Beautiful but not practicalAnonymous reviewerI find this worktop so stylish and compliments my IKEA kitchen so well but it is not practical/fit for purpose.. a kitchen is a kitchen be it busy or not it should withstand the work that comes with cooking etc.. my kitchen I take such good care of as I waited so long to have a new kitchen of my own and I still have 3 chips on my worktop and I don’t know how any of them happened.. extremely disappointed.. I also have the match of the worktop on the wall so it would not be an easy change for me!!3
Great quality worktopAnonymous reviewerFound this on IKEA it was the most reasonably priced and we were very impressed with the quality. The best part of it was that every side and edge was fully finished which gave us more flexibility for use. Well done IKEA!5
Good valueAnonymous reviewerGood value worktop for occasional use - not sure how robust it is for everyday busy kitchen3
Amazing value for money!Anonymous reviewerBought this to replace a bathroom worktop. It’s a third of the price I would pay if I bought a similar product locally (even including the delivery!) . The worktop is edged all the way round which made installation easy. Looks great and I’m extremely pleased with the result. Would definitely recommend……..in fact I have, to friends!!5
Contemporary chicAnonymous reviewerLove this.. Subtle pattern with all the benefits of laminate.5
Did the jobAnonymous reviewerBought to top white IKEA drawer combination for a dressing table. Did the job well and looks good.5
Great worktop at a great price.Anonymous reviewerI bought 2 of these worktops for my new kitchen. They look great and were very easy to work with. They are 28mm thick, so a medium thickness, and I am absolutely delighted with them. I would highly recommend this product, especially if you are on a tight budjet.5
Looks lovelyAnonymous reviewerLooks lovely but a nightmare with water spots. Every little drop of water marks the matt surface so needs wiping all over constantly3
The new version Is even betterAnonymous reviewerwe needed for our island and we chose this because the product is much better and now it’s a new version; it seems Ikea upgraded and the touch is more durable, more realistic and posh. I would definitely recommend it5
