However, the depth could be deeper as UK files do not fit properly so we have had to rethink how to store them. There are IKEA storage boxes that will fit the shelves and we have those. The photos illustrating the shelves show files fitting perfectly but UK files must be different to those shown.5

Really pleased with my bookcases...Anonymous reviewerReally pleased with my bookcases... I did buy better handles from IKEA than the ones supplied and they look beautiful. Only criticism/complaint is that there was no way of knowing that they needed more trimming to fit above my skirting boards before arranging with fitting company. This was problematic with the fitting company who expected a ridiculous amount of money - £30 each trim which would have added an extra £120 onto fitting Bill! Luckily the fitter fitted them as they should be fitted and they look great.4

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
