    Not the same colours as Besta shelves & CabinetsAnonymous reviewerPurchased 3 tops and 10 shelves, the tops are nowhere near the same colour as the rest of the Besta oak veneer products Ikea make, they are much lighter. When creating our TV media unit the tops look like cheap plastic pine. We went back to warehouse to check the colour and all the Besta Oak veneer tops are this colour which does not match the rest of the range. As our unit is almost built we will have to try restain the tops to match. Ikea you need to sort this out.1

We had to go check we hadn't purchased the white washed oak. Not sure if the tops and shelves are made by different manufacturers for Ikea but they need to get together and get the colour right.3

    What is veneer?

    A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
