For added durability and so you can enjoy the natural expression of the wood, the furniture has been pre-treated with a layer of semi-transparent wood stain.

Care

The best way to extend the life of your wooden outdoor furniture is by cleaning it regularly, not leaving it outdoors unprotected more than necessary and to re-stain it on a regular basis.

Clean: With a mild soapy solution. Wipe dry with a clean and dry cloth.

Maintenance: To prevent the surface from drying out and cracking and moisture from penetrating into the wood we recommend you to re-stain the furniture on a regular basis, for example once or twice a year.

Storing: If possible, store in a cool dry place indoors. If the furniture is stored outside, cover it with a waterproof cover. After a rain or snowfall, wipe off excess water or snow from flat surfaces. Allow air to circulate to avoid condensation.

Poor product that belies IKEA's usual high standars.Anonymous reviewerMajor problems: 1. The gateleg mechanism holding legs in position on opening is v shallow- legs come out with minimal knock. 2. Hinges provide at least 2 mm wider than the slot in wood. Therefore sharp corners of the hinge potentially can lacerate skin when hand tries to adjust the gateleg grip. 3. Potentially dangerous when fully opened as the table sides can flop down- with anything like tea or coffee on it- with a little knock from the leg. Can cause injury or burn. 4. The studs below legs are poor quality. 5. Overall a complete no-no to IKEA's usual quality and safety standards. Will be trying to return, though we have assembled already.2
