The nightlight turns on when the sensor detects movement within 3 metres. To save battery life, the light is only active in the dark, and turns off automatically after 30 seconds of no movement.
Battery-operated without tangled wiring and the need for a mains connection means you can mount the light anywhere – in a hallway or bedroom, along the stairs or even inside a cupboard or wardrobe.
Easy installation without wiring. Insert batteries and mount the light where you like with the double-sided adhesive pad.

Okay for the price, but not greatAnonymous reviewerThe light output isn't all that great, it's quite dim even in pitch black conditions. Suitable for small corridors or passages at best.
The motion sensor has a very poor detection angle, and refuses to trigger from motion off to the side. You often need to be standing directly in front to trigger it, by which point its a little too late.
The light also won't turn itself off if a bright light source (e.g. overhead fixture) is turned on: once it's been triggered, it remains lit until motion is no longer detected. Can't imagine that'll be good for battery life.
Despite the size of the enclosure, they opted to use 2x AAA cells instead of a single AA, meaning the batteries cost more *and* have a lower capacity.

Does it's job!Anonymous reviewerLove this little light. The sensor works well by only having the light come on when it's dark. I use it in the hall and it works brilliantly, no need to turn on and off the main light when just passing through. I've had it for a couple months and it seems the battery lasts about a month and a half for my level of use. I use the rechargeable IKEA batteries, so not a problem to just pop in a recharged pair when needed. It's a really helpful light at a great price!

1 star taken for the sensor angle being kind of narrow. Had it installed in the hallway, if people comes near *sideway*, they'll need to get very near to trigger it (1-2ft). Would work better if traffic comes towards the nightlight instead.
