Suitable for business use.

This ergonomic office chair has lots of functions that allow you to easily adapt the chair to your body.

Height-adjustable seat allows you to adjust the height so that back and legs are at a 90° angle.

With automatic tilt tension, your body weight determines how much resistance the backrest offers. This counter-pressure helps you keep an active posture in your chair.

Synchronised tilt mechanism allows the chair to move with you. The backrest moves more than the seat when you lean back, so torso/hips open up. This improves circulation and keeps energy levels up.

As you recline, the synchronised tilt mechanism allows feet to stay on the floor while your gaze remains straight ahead. Your chest stretches without adding pressure on thighs, improving circulation.

Adjustable seat depth enables proper back support and even weight distribution across the seat cushion. This prevents circulation from being cut off at the knees and reduces knee pressure.

Backrest can be adjusted to provide support in all the right places and helping your body to maintain a naturally good posture.

Adjustable lumbar support helps maintain the correct posture while sitting which reduces strain on muscles on your lower back.

The padded armrests provide good support and comfort for your arms.

GRANN cover is made of grain leather which is a very high-quality leather. As it ages it becomes softer and develops a darker tone and fine patina.

A safety function locks the castors when no one is sitting in the chair and keeps it securely in place when you stand up.

The castors are designed to provide ease of movement and maneuverability on both carpeted and hard floors as well as on uneven surfaces.

Reviews

Great chair, only downside is that the back is not very highVerified ReviewerThis is a great chair. Looks really good. The seat cushion is really well padded. The armrests are great. The wheels are rubber coated, which is a nice addition. It also tilts backwards which is good. It could be improved by keeping the design the same, apart from making the back taller. It could even be sold in two models, one as it is, and one model with a high back. I think it would just need a different backrest to be attached to the chair, which is a lot taller. This would provide upper back and head support, and would be particularly useful when using this chair for both desk work, and as a comfy chair to relax in (with a higher back, and the current ability to recline the chair). If Ikea sold an aftermarket replacement high back for that chair, this would also be great for those who have already bought the chair. The other downside to the chair is the price, it is expensive.4
Very very happy with this chair.Verified ReviewerI love this chair. I am under five feet tall and I can sit in it comfortably with my feet on the floor. The arm rests are perfectly placed. Best of all the chair does not roll back and so I can sit in it and use my exercise pedals under the desk. My last chair kept rolling back and so my exercise pedals just gathered dust. Now I can add a cadence sensor to them and use them with my VR headset exercise apps. I have the beige chair which is darker in colour than I had expected but that is good because I was a bit worried it would look like the chair my dentist sits in at their surgery. The chair feels high quality and I am quite optimistic that it will justify its price.5
Avoid for daily useVerified ReviewerThis is a lovely looking chair however, it’s not practical at all for daily use. I got it to work from home and it has no neck support so I have back pain as a result. At the time I tried to contact Ikea to return it and they said as it’s not faulty they can’t do anything. I didn’t know about the 90 day policy and now I don’t have the receipt. Im stuck with a very expensive chair that looks great but unusable. I tried calling and emailed ikea ant the time and had no resolution.1
Squeaky chairVerified ReviewerFirst one I bought I returned it for a constant clicking noise, they exchanged it for me no problem but now I have one that makes a lot of squeaking noises whenever I lean back. Quality control for this produxt is clearly very poor. 2 out of 2 chairs with very different and very annoying issues.1
Constantly makes a clicking noiseVerified ReviewerReally annoying - for such an expensive chair I'd expect better build quality. Unfortunately whenever I sit on it it is constantly making clicking noises. Impossible to focus on what I'm doing, never been more annoyed at an inanimate object in my life.1
Love it!!! So comfortableVerified ReviewerLove it!!! So comfortable5
CoolVerified ReviewerVery comfortable and stylish5
Really comfortableVerified ReviewerWe had high backed office chairs for years and they were very comfortable but made the room look small. Decided to move on and try this chair for a change. I do not miss my old chair in the slightest. This chair is so comfortable. Glad we found it. It took a while to assemble as there were a lot of parts, but it wasn't difficult. Quite pricey, but everything is going up these days.5
Worth the priceVerified ReviewerI ordered this office chair online without having sat on it but the other reviews convinced me it was going to be comfortable and worth the expense and it is. I didn't realise how uncomfortable my old chair was until I sat on this one! The seat is a generous size and despite the backrest being lower than my previous chair it provides good support for my lower back. The tilt feature is useful but you can't lock it in a certain position. You can leave the leaver pulled out so the backrest moves with you if you want though. I love the armrests - my old chair didn't have them. My desk has a pull out shelf for the keyboard and the armrests are set far enough back on the chair that they don't hit the shelf. The chair looks stylish and the leather is great quality. I put it together myself in about 30 minutes and found it very straightforward to do. The casters pushed on easily.5
Great! but NOT for very tall peopleVerified ReviewerI bought this chair as a more stylish option than my old ergonomic but ugly office chair. It ticks the box on style for sure, I love the retro feel. The actual seat and back is firm but very comfortable and although the back is lower than I expected it's still very supportive. The shorter arm rests initially seemed less useful but are actually brilliant as they don't hit the table. The fact they are padded is a bonus - my elbows have never been this comfortable! It's also super easy to adjust. One downside is that this chair is NOT for tall people! I'm 5'8 and at the highest position it's just enough for my legs to be at the proper 90degree angle and reach the floor. However the seat slide adjustment is great as it makes the seat deeper which makes the chair much more comfortable than most other office chairs. Overall this is well worth the money especially if you are on the shorter side, I would avoid if you are taller than 5'8 and want to use this chair for a full work day.4

Its ok...looks fabVerified ReviewerIts comfortable, but doesn't lock into place when i lean back. its great quality but i would expect it as i paid over £200.4
Office chair that's a bit differentVerified ReviewerI like the look of this chair as at has a retro feel. It is very comfortable, adjusts well and I like the leather covering.5
nice chairVerified ReviewerGood chair, the downside is that the seat angle is not adjustable.4
so comfy and elegantVerified ReviewerThe best IKEA purchase ever. I'm working long hours every day from home, and this chair has saved my back and legs pain. Highly recommended5
The perfect little office chair.Verified ReviewerA really comfortable and durable office chair that works well in a bedroom/home office setting.5
Perfect office chairVerified ReviewerLike a lot of people, working from home has become the norm. I’ve been sat on a plastic kitchen eames chair for the last 4 months and finally decided to buy this chair. It was quite an investment but my oh my, it’s worth every penny. I love that it doesn’t have a high back but it supports me in sitting upright for 8 hrs + a day. It also reclines, swivels and has great mobility. I’m so happy with it. It’s stylish and super comfortable all in one. I originally wanted the tan colour, but it was sold out. However, I think the black is stylish and classic. If you buy this, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!5
Perfect Office ChairVerified ReviewerEasy to put together. Looks gorgeous and more importantly it does the job. I use this 5 days a week for 8+ hours a day and its really comfortable. Easy flow, floor friendly casters. Adjustable seat and back, so you can get the right position.5

Material

What are leathers, skins and hides?

Leathers, skins and hides are durable, hardwearing materials that we strive to produce as responsibly as possible. That’s why we only use by-products from the food industry and we have requirements for traceability to slaughterhouses, thereby ensuring ethically correct slaughters. The materials are then treated so that they’re usable for home decoration products. In this process we don’t allow the use of chrome, which is potentially harmful to both humans and the environment.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

The challenge with ALEFJÄLL swivel chair was to combine retro style from the 1950s with the demands on function and comfort we have today. It is fully adjustable to your body, without looking technical, so it fits at home as well as in the office. I think chairs should look good from behind and I am particularly pleased with how the adjustable backrest integrates with the metal frame. ALEFJÄLL is comfortable, reliable and convivial – functional and stylish at the same time.
