You can easily create your own personal pendant lamp by combining the cord set with your choice of lampshade.
Use a cord set to easily adjust the length of the cord for your pendant lamp. When the lamp hangs at the perfect height, gather the remaining cord in the ceiling cup and then mount it tight to the ceiling.

Missing HookAnonymous reviewerThe product itself is a great idea, but it doesn't come with a hook. The hooks are less than £1 so should just come included, just make the product price match. I had to search on the ikea website to find them and then drive back to get the hooks.
Good idea but instructions missing key stepAnonymous reviewerThere is no hook included, and it’s not obvious how the ceiling cup is supposed to be secured. The description says to mount it tight to the ceiling, but doesn’t explain how.
After a lot of trial and error, I worked out that the cup is designed to screw into a ceiling fixing/dowel. However, to make that work, the cord has to be supported at exactly the right height.
In my case I had to:
Use a zip tie attached to the ceiling bracket as a makeshift hook
Keep going back into the ceiling cup to adjust the zip tie length
Refit and test multiple times until the height was perfect
Only then would the cup screw up flush and tight to the ceiling
None of this is explained in the instructions, and most people would struggle without prior experience.
Once installed properly it does look clean and works well, but IKEA should definitely include clearer instructions or a simple diagram showing how the cup is meant to be secured.
