How does IKEA assembly service work?

With the Taskrabbit assembly service, trusted Taskers can install your IKEA furniture in your home. You can book assembly in‑store or online during checkout, or directly through the Taskrabbit website at any time.

This is how the assembly service works: 
  1. Book and pay for the Assembly Service by Taskrabbit in-store or online during your checkout process. 
    When booking online:  
    a) Add your products to your shopping bag on IKEA.com.  
    b) Enter your postcode at checkout to check service availability.  
    c) Review and agree to Taskrabbit’s Terms & Conditions. 
    d) Select your dates: one for product delivery and one for assembly.  
    e) Choose your payment method and complete your purchase. Please note: you pay for both the products, delivery service and assembly service through IKEA.  
     
    You can also request assembly services directly from Taskrabbit at any time. In this case, the booking is made directly through the Taskrabbit website and not through IKEA. 
  2. Check your email for a message from Taskrabbit that includes the next steps. You’ll receive a welcome email and booking confirmation from Taskrabbit, which includes instructions on how to create and activate your Taskrabbit account. This is a mandatory step to enable communication with your assigned Tasker. If you do not register and create a Taskrabbit account before the scheduled assembly time, your assembly appointment will be cancelled.  
  3. Chat with your Tasker in the Taskrabbit app or website to confirm your assembly service date. Once you have booked a timeslot for the service, you will be assigned a Tasker with whom you can communicate about the service. You can do this either by downloading the Taskrabbit app or using the in-app chat function through the Taskrabbit website. The Tasker will also send you a reminder 24-hours before the scheduled appointment.
  4. Change or reschedule if needed. If you need to reschedule or cancel your Taskrabbit assembly appointment and a Tasker has already been assigned to you, reach out directly via the Taskrabbit chat thread in the Taskrabbit app or through the Taskrabbit website

    If you haven’t been assigned a Tasker yet, contact IKEA Customer Service to get support with rescheduling. You can reach IKEA Customer Service by typing "I want to talk to a human" in the chat. Alternatively, please see our Contact Us page.

    When rescheduling, your new appointment may not be handled by the same Tasker, and Taskers are not obliged to accept a new date or time. Please note that if you choose to cancel your assembly service less than 24 hours before the agreed date and time, a fee may be charged.
  5. Leave your to-be-assembled products in the original packaging. Place the packages in the room where you want them to be assembled, and make sure that the room is a safe area for the Tasker to perform the assembly. Find more information about how to prepare for the service in the Taskrabbit Terms & Conditions.  
  6. The Tasker arrives at your home or office to complete the assembly at the agreed-upon date and time. Please note that the Taskers are unable to dispose of the packaging for you.
