How do the Second Chance Buyback Service and the Second Chance Market work?
You can sell back used IKEA furniture and receive an IKEA credit card. At the same time, you can find tested and refurbished furniture at attractive prices in the Second Chance Market.
This is how the buyback service works:
- Check online whether your piece of furniture is suitable for repurchase and receive a non-binding offer directly.
- The buyback offer will be displayed immediately and also sent by e-mail.
- Bring the piece of furniture to your IKEA store within 30 days.
- The product must be clean, fully assembled and recognisable as an IKEA product.
- Our employees check the condition on site and determine the final surrender value. This may differ from the online offer.
- After successful verification, you will receive an IKEA prepaid card instead of a cash payment.
You should keep this in mind:
- Proof of purchase is not required.
- The piece of furniture must not be dismantled for the evaluation.
- The prepaid card is valid for three years.
- You can redeem the prepaid card online and in any IKEA store.
- The buy-back service is available in all IKEA stores.
- Planning studios do not offer a buy-back service and a second-chance market.
What happens to your piece of furniture?
Repurchased furniture is checked, refurbished and then resold in the second-chance market. This gives them a new home and keeps them in the cycle of use for longer.

In the Second Chance Market, you can find used, tested and refurbished IKEA products at reduced prices.
Your advantages:
- One year warranty on all items.
- Constantly changing assortment with unique finds.
To reserve an item online:
- Choose your IKEA store.
- Sign up and reserve your item online via the Second Chance Market.
- Pick up the reserved item from the store within the specified time period.
Reservation conditions:
- You can reserve a maximum of five products at a time.
- The same item can be reserved a maximum of three times in a row.
- The reservation period is 24 to 48 hours, depending on the store.
- Items reserved on Saturdays will remain reserved until closing time on Monday.
Good to know:
- You can cancel your reservation at any time using the link in the confirmation email.
- If you don't have a reservation number with you, your name will suffice when you pick it up.
- Shop & Go can also be used in the Second Chance Market.
