Do I need proof of purchase to return an item and how do I get a refund?

If you change your mind and want to return something, we need your proof of purchase. We always refund using the same method you originally paid with.

Please note the following:

  • You can also use a digital proof of purchase: In your IKEA Family profile, you can register all your purchases – and then retrieve the receipts there. The same applies if you like to shop online using your IKEA profile. A return without any proof of purchase is not possible.
  • If the item was originally paid for by card, that card must be presented in its original form when returning the item.
  • Items purchased during a promotion will only be refunded proportionally – minus the promotional discount.
  • We issue refunds once the returned products arrive at our location or after you cancel your order. Depending on the refund method, it may take some time for the amount to appear in your account. You can check the status of your refund in your profile.
