Can I return a product to the IKEA store?

If you bought a product from IKEA Germany, you can return it to any IKEA store in Germany. It doesn't matter whether you bought the item online or in another IKEA store. Please note that returns are currently not possible at IKEA stores in Ingolstadt. Instead, use another store near you.

Return to the IKEA store:
  • Bring the item with your proof of purchase (e.g., receipt, invoice, or order confirmation).
  • Returns are made at the exchange and return desk, which is usually located near the exit behind the cash registers.

Use express returns and save time
If you prepare your return online in advance, you can use the express return and often be served faster.
This is how the express return works:
  • Open the return form
  • Enter your order number or receipt details.
  • Select the products you want to return (up to 10 items).
  • Complete the required information, such as the reason for return.
  • Submit the form.
  • You will then receive a return barcode by email or SMS.
  • Visit an IKEA store within 14 days and bring both the barcode and the items to be returned.
Proof of purchase not at hand?
As an IKEA Family member, you'll find many Purchases in your purchase history.
This means that you can often access the proof of purchase digitally.
Important to note:
  • If you do not prepare the return online, you will need to bring the proof of purchase to the store along with the product.
  • Returns are only accepted at IKEA stores, with the exception of IKEA Ingolstadt, where you cannot return items or file a complaint.
  • IKEA planning studios and pick-up locations cannot accept returns.
