How to choose a bedside table

It might be a small piece of furniture, but it comes with many choices and different functions. If it’s the right one it will improve both your going to bed and waking up routine, and when it’s not right it will disturb your peace of mind both day and night!

Does your dream blend in or stand out?

Take a few steps back and look at the bed and the space around it from a distance. What does it need? Something that stands out and adds a fun shape or colour to the entirety, or something that blends in perfectly? The choice is yours. And remember that if there are bedside tables on both sides of the bed, they don’t necessarily have to look the same.

Take a close look at the back

If your bed and bedside table are to be placed in the middle of the room instead of directly against the wall, make sure to choose the ones that look as good from all angles. RÅDMANSÖ is a good example of that, with its sleek lines and warm walnut tone all around.

Got something to hide?

Not all bedside tables have drawers, and not all of us need them. But if you know that you tend to have a lot of small things such as reading glasses, hand lotion, pens, lip balm, hair ties, headphones, earplugs and what not, next to your bed – make sure to choose a bedside table with at least one drawer.

The secret of wheels

Well, they’ve been around for a while and the benefit of wheels is fully known to all, so it’s not exactly a secret. If you’re looking for a bedside table that can be easily moved or rolled around to anywhere else in the room, go for one on wheels. It’s as simple as that.

No cables - no mess

With the built-in cable management your bedside table will look tidy even if you have several cables to manage. STOMSÖ is just one example that has this hidden hole in the back where you can pull cables to any lamp or charger, to keep yourself online but the bedside table tidy.

The top of the table is a warm coloured birch-effect as are the front of the drawer and the storage shelf underneath. The sides of the table are white. For a splash of colour the person takes out the drawer and reverses it, as the main part of it is blue.
