A step-by-step guide to smart lighting from IKEA

Our smart lighting is simple to use. It starts with a plan. What kind of light do you need? Do you want to dim or change colour? It's all possible. 

With smart LED light bulbs, you can create the atmosphere you want in any room at that moment. Follow the steps below to create your own smart lighting solution.

Remote control

Use a remote control to control one lamp or groups of several lamps at the same time. With a hotkey, you can combine and control groups in a ‘scene’. Remote controls are also easy to use for your friends and family when they come to visit.

Motion detection

Automatic control, activated by motion, makes the home feel safer and more comfortable. Use it to turn on lights in dark areas, such as when you walk to the bathroom at night, or in places where your hands are often full, such as by the front door, in the stairs, in storage rooms or in the laundry room. Another good idea for the wardrobe: turn on the built-in lights when you open the doors.

Create atmosphere with different types of light settings, for example for watching TV or a romantic dinner. Control your light via remote control or the app. Switch off, on, dim and change from warm to cold light as you like. And set a nice wake-up light, turn the lights on and off according to a schedule and set a timer so the light comes on the way you want even when you're away.
