How to buy VIDGA curtain rail - 4 easy steps

Woman installing a VIDGA curtain rail on the ceiling.

Step-by-step guide

Find out how to measure and calculate how many VIDGA curtain tracks you need for your curtain solution, with one or two layers of curtains, to ensure you have everything you need.

  1. Measure your window
  2. Calculate how many curtain rails you need
  3. Choose fittings for ceiling or wall
  4. Choose how you want to hang your curtains

We start with VIDGA Curtain rail 1 track as it is the one we recommend for ordinary curtains even if you have several layers. You only choose VIDGA Curtain rail 3 tracks if you are going to have panel curtains.

1. Measure your window

How to calculate how long your curtain rail should be:

  • Measure the width of the window.
  • Add at least 15 cm on each side. This is so that the curtains can be pulled out a bit on the wall to hide the window frame and so that the curtain does not cover the entire window.
  • This is the overall dimension that your curtain rail needs to be.

2. Calculate how many curtain rails you need

  • The VIDGA curtain rail is 140 cm long and can be both cut and extended.
  • Extend the curtain rail by adding an extra rail and connecting them with the supplied splice fitting.
  • Shorten the curtain rail by simply cutting it to the desired length with a hacksaw.

3. Select fittings

VIDGA curtain rails can be mounted on both ceilings and walls.

Choose the 6 cm wall bracket if you have a layer of curtains and want them to hang close to the wall.

Choose the 12 cm wall bracket if you have two layers of curtains. You can also choose it if you have one layer and want to get the curtain out a bit from the wall as you may have a window sill or an element to take into account.

4. Choose how you want to hang your curtains

VIDGA Slide and hook

  • Hang your curtains on the small hooks for tight folds.
  • One pack contains 24 pieces. For your curtain to have nice and even folds, you need to use at least 16 pieces/length of curtain.
  • 2 packs are enough for 3 curtain lengths.

RIKTIG curtain hook

  • Also known as finger hooks, these provide a nice fall with wide and even folds for your curtains.
  • They bring the top edge of the curtain a little higher and cover most of the curtain rail.
  • Complete with VIDGA Slide and Hook when you attach the finger hook to the loop.
  • One package contains 20 finger hooks. For your curtain to have nice and even folds, you need to use at least 16 pcs/length of curtain.
  • For 2 curtain lengths you need 2 packs.
