Setting the table for Midsummer - tips for your Midsummer table setting

A rustic midsummer table setting with different types of crockery.

To get that cosy and rustic midsummer feel, you can combine different sizes and types of tables. Take what you have and mix stools, chairs and benches to add personality to your midsummer party. The same goes for the midsummer table setting. Combine different materials and colours when choosing crockery, vases and lanterns. And have food and drinks on a separate table.

Midsummer celebrations in the countryside

When you're sitting outside, you may still want to have some kind of room feeling. In this case, you can use a parasol as a screen, but also to protect against the sun and wet tables. Add plants and candle lanterns to get that cosy and snug feeling.

To get the same cosy feeling when you set up for midsummer on your small balcony, you can use a small parasol and movable screens (or privacy screens) that you can have outdoors. Stackable stools and folding chairs are also the perfect choice for you!
If you don't have access to electricity outside, you can use battery or solar solutions! Charge and you have lighting with a small lamp in the evening when it starts to get dark.

Set the scene for an indoor midsummer party

If it's raining, or if you want to be on the safe side, you can create an equally beautiful midsummer display indoors. Use a flower arch to hang wreaths. Go wild with flowers and add string lights! And place candles on the tables.

Think about the table placement to mix your midsummer guests who are visiting. Decorate the table setting with a small nameplate. You can easily do this with, for example, a piece of cardboard that you tie to the glasses with the string you use to tie the wreaths. Creating a midsummer quiz and having songbooks on the table is also a nice touch that lightens the mood.
A separate drinks table is a good idea. Especially with a container that both keeps the wasps away and allows guests to easily refill themselves.

Setting the table for a midsummer buffet

Set a Midsummer table with food in focus. To make room for all the delicious midsummer dishes that are part of the holiday, it's a good idea to set the food on a separate table. Use different chopping boards and trays. This makes it easy to move the food in and out, but also creates a nice and personalised table setting.
