What can I do when IKEA Kreativ says there aren’t enough resources?

If IKEA Kreativ says your device doesn’t have enough resources, don’t worry. There are a few simple things you can try so the design experience runs more smoothly. Closing other pages and tabs, and having your device plugged in can free up resources to power the design experience.

Why might this happen ?

If IKEA Kreativ indicates that your device is running out of resources, it usually means that the graphics processing unit (GPU) is overloaded because other applications or browser tabs are using too much graphics power. Since the tool relies heavily on the GPU to generate 3D scenes, this overload can prevent it from working properly.
How can I avoid this?
There are many reasons that can trigger this condition and, unfortunately, it might be hard to avoid. However, there are a few measures you can take to prevent this from happening:
  • Close resource‑intensive applications such as games, Netflix, YouTube, or Photoshop, as they can heavily use the GPU.
  • Limit the number of open browser tabs, since some pages can place a high demand on graphics resources.
  • Keep your device plugged in, which helps ensure the GPU is running at full performance.
  • Avoid changing your screen configuration, because connecting or disconnecting an external monitor can temporarily increase GPU usage.

What is a GPU ?

A GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is a specialized processor designed to handle complex visual and graphical calculations. It powers things like 3D rendering, video playback, games, and advanced visual effects. IKEA Kreativ depends on the GPU to generate realistic scenes, which is why an overloaded GPU can cause performance issues.
