Why are the prices not the same in the different countries ?

Some products are a bit cheaper in Belgium, others slightly more expensive than in a neighbouring country. It depends on the article – no country is always the cheapest.

At IKEA, we want to make good design affordable for as many people as possible. That is why we work with a central reference price for our products. Each country then sets its own final selling price, based on local factors such as competition, volumes, labour costs, VAT, environmental legislation, food safety, taxes, supplier prices and transport costs.
This means prices can differ between countries. Sometimes a product is a bit more expensive… but sometimes it is also cheaper.
Did you know that some IKEA products are simply cheaper in Belgium than with our neighbours?
