What can I do if I received an item from IKEA that I didn't order?

If you receive an unordered product, first check if it's an additional item or if something is missing from your original order. If items are missing, contact IKEA customer service in the store or online. The employee will help you return the wrong items and find the missing ones. If you've received additional items, check the purchase invoice to see if you've been charged, then contact IKEA Customer Service for guidance on how to proceed.

Additional items received

Contact IKEA customer service online. Type "I want to talk to a human" in the chat or call 0800 081 100. A member of staff will help you with all the options on how to return the extra item and how to refund to your original payment method or to an IKEA prepaid card.

In the store

You can also visit an IKEA store. From there, go to Customer Service (near the entrance/exit) and take the additional item and your invoice with you. A member of staff will assist you in returning the item and receiving the refund, either to your original payment method or as an IKEA prepaid card.

Incorrect items received

If you have received items, that you didn't order, and items ordered at the same time missing, you can:

In the store

Visit the nearest IKEA store and go to Customer Service. Take your invoice and, if possible, the incorrectly delivered item with you. Employees can:
  • exchange the wrong item directly for the right one,
  • organize a delivery service for you if the right item is out of stock,
  • Advise you on your options if you were unable to bring the incorrectly delivered item to the store yourself.

Online

You can also contact IKEA customer service online, especially if the wrong item is heavy or you'd rather have the missing item delivered to your home. Type "I want to talk to a human" in the chat or call 0800 081 100. Employees can:
  • organize the delivery of the missing items,
  • if necessary, arrange for the collection of the incorrectly delivered item.

Refund in case of price differences

If, after the exchange, it turns out that you paid more than you should have paid, you are entitled to a refund of the price difference. This will be charged back to the original payment method used.
