Great unit, but inserts with doors are dealbreakerKellieIf you are looking to use the shelving unit on its own, it's great. However if you are planning to add any wooden inserts with doors, be sure you read the reviews on the inserts before proceeding as they're terrible. Had I read the review on the inserts (which I thought was a minor deal) I definitely would not have purchased the Kallax but now it's fully assembled in my living room and I'm dreading fully un-assembling and returning. It's a shame because the kallax itself is nice, it's the system that's not.3

Kallax Got ShorterIThe unit is a full inch shorter than 2 older Kallax units I own and the boards arent as thick. I was able to stack it in the center of a planned U shaped configuration so its not too noticeable that Ikea changed their Kallax specifications. Kind of annoying!1

Lower quality and finishDeyaniraIKEA has definitely decreased the quality of its products. Recently purchased this item of which I have another few in my home. I was surprised to find many boards had rough finishes with filaments of the coating being present, the boards were dirty, and some board were dented. Very disappointing.3
The sewist’s dream storage.YolandaTake 2 Kallax units and secure them horizontally back to back. Attach casters to make it easy to move. Outfit the cubbies with drawers or storage bins of your choice. Then use a Torsby table top on top to support an ample cutting mat. The sewist’s dream storage unit and cutting table! Note: The Kallax 2x4 units are constructed to be more structurally stable in the vertical position. I added more support for the casters. I Love it!4
