Care

Too difficult to assemble, and uncomfortableArmaanThe assembly was extremely hard - you had to hold pieces in awkward positions and pray that everything was perfectly aligned. Even after assembly, it makes cracking sounds every time I sit on it (and I'm ~150 lbs, not super heavy). It also cuts off leg circulation.

Like the look, but too much time to assemble!WilliamThe bar stools look nice. Seat is a bit wobbly. Not very comfortable wooden seat- Ikea does not sell a cushion that fits. Odd 11" diameter. Much too complex to assemble- first one took nearly an hour.
Classic and VersatileJeffI love stools. Use them for console tables, night stands, seats, pedestals, lion taming, the uses are unlimited. Ikea's Dalfred is a classic that fills all those roles with aplomb.
Good for the price, but buyer beware of two things.BarbaraI needed a stool to go with a new kitchen counter/ island. Mostly for "perching," standing computer work, and snack meals. Dalfred is good. I like it a lot. But even with my yogi body, used to sitting on hard surfaces, I can only sit/ perch for about an hour before my sit bones hurt! HAHAHA. Which is ok. I have to get moving! Also, assembly was a bit tricky. I needed someone handier than me to get the legs on. A couple of the holes needed drilling out.

The design has improved over the years by making the lower ring (foot rest) less susceptible to rust (which is what happened to my first set of these). I wish they were still offered in the lighter birch color. That is seriously my only complaint, and it's not a big deal.

Choose the right bar stool height
Choose the right height of your bar stool so that it is comfy to sit on, offers plenty of leg room and is proportionate with the rest of your space. Kitchen counters and counter-height tables typically range from 34-36" from the floor. To find the perfect stool for your counter, look for a seat height of 23-26". Tabletops or counters that measure between 39-42" from the floor, are typically classified as "bar height", and require a seat height of 28-30".
