Marks, color and size variations are natural characteristics of the leather and make each cowhide unique.

The cowhide is naturally durable and will last for many years.

  • The hide patterns vary in shades of light, medium, and dark brown. There may also be smaller spots in white, black, or beige.

    All leather and skins you find in the IKEA range are sourced as by-products from the food industry. This means the whole animal is used instead of parts being discarded.

    Skins and hides must be treated in order to become beautiful interior products. In this process, we don't allow any chemicals or heavy metals that are harmful to people and the environment.

    The hides naturally vary in size and are normally between 71-78" in width and 78-86" in length.

    To ensure you are satisfied with the size of the rug once you get it home, we recommend that you measure the intended floor space for your rug before you buy it.

    Use one STOPP anti-slip underlay if you use it on the floor. Trim if necessary.

    Do not bleach.

    Do not tumble dry.

    Do not iron.

    Do not dry clean.

    Vacuum, shake and rotate the rug regularly.

    Remove dried spots immediately by scraping carefully towards the middle of the spot.

    Do not rub wet spots. Absorb moisture with paper towels, and clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

    Professional carpet cleaning when needed.

    Always use the standard floorhead, never the rotating brush, when vaccuming the rug.

I do have it on top of a thick non-ikea rug pad that cushions it from our walking on it. It is very thin rug and the price is not super low so I can't give it 5 stars. Be warned, it can't take any type of moisture so don't put it any place that a spill is likely to happen to it.4
