good idea bad fixture designAnonymous reviewerfor this to stand straight it needs to other fixtures. Good idea but in practice it does not work.1
Useless fixings, no stabilityAnonymous reviewerAbsolutely the worst thing I've ever bought from ikea. Fixings are completely inadequate. Bought to go in a corner but the smallest glance at them and they fall down or go crooked as the fixings are completely useless at keeping it level. Save your money and buy something better.1
RubbishAnonymous reviewerFlimsy fixing style. Metal rod fixing bracket as is supplied with the larger lack shelves would be much better. This small shelf looked ideal on the wall as a bedside shelf however as soon as anything placed on the outer edge (nowhere close to exceeding the 3kg guidance), the shelf rips wall plugs out of the wall. Useless design.1
It’s OKAnonymous reviewerObviously really cheap, but it’s not solid so seems to tilt because there’s no solid bracket for this.1
Appalling shelvesAnonymous reviewerBought three of these to pop into a little recess next to a chimney breast in our son’s bedroom and the other half has lost his mind trying to get these right. We’ve had longer Lack shelves in the past that had a bracket running the width of the shelf and two prongs to insert into tue main body of the shelf, but this new design is just awful in comparison.
Two have been put up just about but one of this is already dipping at the front. Such a poor design compared with its predecessor. Would rather pay a little more for the old design! 1
SHELVESAnonymous reviewerEasy to put up, great style n quality5
Just what I wantedAnonymous reviewerBought these as a replacement for 2 white identical shelves that I’d had for years and were past their best. In my porch and look great with other red trim out there.5
Lack Wall ShelfAnonymous reviewerDone the job. Very useful!!5
Lack shelfAnonymous reviewerDifficult to find correct size round head screw to fit, should be supplied.3
Not even worth wasting a fiver!Anonymous reviewerLarger lack shelves come with a bracket which is sturdy. This shelf relies on clinging to 2 screws standing proud of the wall and is therefore flimsy and wobbly. It also has a thin edging which is too easily breakable. I damaged one of mine within minutes, before I'd even placed anything on it!1
Nice and compactAnonymous reviewerLove this wee floating shelf. Fits perfectly above my bedside unit for extra storage5
Small floating shelfAnonymous reviewerNightmare to put up. Screws, rawplugs unsuitable should have come with brackets like the larger shelf. Can just about put a plant on it. Not sturdy enough.1
Solid shelfAnonymous reviewerGood shelf but too big for us so returned4
Look great but a lot of hassle, wouldn't buy again.Anonymous reviewerLook great as expected, had real trouble trying to find screws and fitting them. Our local independent hardware shop didn't have the screws required and they opened several Packets. The size required is M5 and I purchased some in B&Q with metal raw plugs. You have to screw them all the way in then release a little or the raw plugs fall out when fitted. Even after measuring several times I've managed to make one wonky and the holes too close together. The raw plugs are massive so couldn't remember drill, I did manage to move the metal on the back of the shelf over slightly and that worked. I wouldn't buy again, it took me longer to do these than build a large Kallax unit3
TerribleAnonymous reviewerThe wall fixings are not adequate. Even with nothing on this shelf it starts to drop within days. 1
Reviews are correct! Anonymous reviewerHad to leave a review for this shelf. I’ve put up the large and medium versions in the same week. This one I knew would be a pain because the reviews. I got it on the wall and it wasn’t right and was falling out immediately. I changed screws and plugs for the wall and went again and no luck. Then I had issues with the holes on the back being wonky and hard to get the screws in properly, I rearranged them and went again. Had to make new holes in the wall by this point too. An hour later and I got the thing up, only for it to not be great at holding much again. It’s up and has a couple pictures on which isn’t what I wanted it for. The largest ones are all easy to get up and look great, had one which didn’t go right to plan. The medium was the best and easiest to put up. This smallest one is terribly designed. If you had the metal bracket the same as the rest it would take two mins to put up. 2
Works well and looks good, exactly what I expectedAnonymous reviewerWorks well and looks good, exactly what I expected5
IKEA please read the reviews Anonymous reviewerThese shelves need to go back to original design with the bar mount. Even with the appropriately sourced screws and fixings for wall type they are far from ideal, not in keeping with IKEA’s normally simple and robust style. There have been a lot of reviews allegedly passed on to design teams so I would ask why they are not listening, disappointed and dissatisfied with IKEA for the first time1
Great productAnonymous reviewerEasy to install on walls … look great5
Dreadful, especially if you have dot & dab wallsAnonymous reviewerThe brackets on the larger shelves are nice. Looks like these used to be like that but have been cost reduced and now have this little clip that requires you to leave a countersunk screw part way out of the wall, slide it over then push it down until it's tight. This means that any type of wall fixing that works by screwing it in tight causing something to expand inside the wall will not work as you need to start with loose screw. Whoever came up with this design probably has a few of those tbf1
