This fitted perfectly in my lounge and holds all my kitchen gadgets, and more, in bottom half and my photos and books on the top shelves. The colour is just right and would work with any decor. I also have another one in white next to my tiny dining table which holds stationary and lots of other stuff out of view. The doors are ideal size for small space as they do not open out too far. I also managed to get another half size billy in the hallway for cleaning stuff, and now considering another for shoes etc.5

Easy to assembleAnonymous reviewerThe shelves are nice and sturdy and the whole unit was easy to assemble with help. The box is very heavy though and i wish I’d opened it downstairs and bought the parts up individually.
Only the middle shelf is fixed and lots of options for placing the remaining 4 shelves. 5
Delighted with these!Anonymous reviewerI bought two of these and had them made professionally via Ikea’s TaskRabbit partnership. With assembly and delivery they worked out £100 each but I don’t think that’s too bad. They are super-sturdy and look great. They are stacked full of paperbacks and some hardback books and I see no sign at all of the sagging shelves mentioned in some older reviews. Also it’s true that the cutout section at the back is too low to fit over standard skirting boards (can’t you sort this out IKEA - everyone mentions it!) but the tilt back once screwed to the wall at the top is not noticeable. 5

Great ItemAnonymous reviewerThe Billy Bookcase is a great item. My only problem was that the wrong boxes were delivered so I had to go through some messing about to get the Oxberg Doors to go with the bookcase although to their credit Ikea collected the wrong box (another book case) and delivered the two doors within a few days to my house for free.
I am pretty good at assembling flat pack furniture and the Billy Bookcase was extremely easy to assemble and fit the Oxberg Glass doors which went in right first time with no need for adjustments. All in all the case looks great. Does what it says on the tin, and I am very pleased with it.5
Versatile Anonymous reviewerI really can't fault Billy. This item has become so versatile over the years. It can be used for many different things. I chose half and half doors, wood and glass, to use this as a frontroom cabinet for display purposes. Because of its design it slotted nicely in to a corner of the room without taking up too much space. 5
