How we are making an impact with national organizations

Family Promise

The goal of our collaboration with Family Promise is to expand homelessness prevention and shelter diversion services across the country, as well as bring the experience of home to families battling homelessness and housing instability. Over the last four years we’ve collaborated in more than 18 US markets, providing furniture donations, co-worker support and home furnishing expertise to transform transitional housing spaces, shelters and day centers for families experiencing homelessness.

Save the Children

We’ve worked with Save the Children for over a decade to provide thousands of children and their families with a healthy start in life and protection from harm through product donations and financial support. In 2023, we supported the annual Make Summer Fair program, raising $17,560 from customers and contributing an additional $50,000.

American Red Cross

We’ve built a strong relationship with American Red Cross through over a decade of collaboration. Through in-kind product donations, volunteering and financial contributions, we support the Red Cross as they work to deliver vital services, from providing relief and support to those in crisis, to helping people be prepared to respond in emergencies.

How local stores and co-workers are making a difference

IKEA Minneapolis and The B Suite boost the local Black business community

The B Suite is a new cultural space that supports the Black business community and provides a hub for networking and professional growth. IKEA Minneapolis was excited to donate office chairs and desks for their co-working spaces, and chairs, tables and home furnishing accessories for their lounge areas.

"Our support for The B Suite is a wonderful step toward promoting equality and representation, and we are proud to contribute to a more equitable Twin Cities."

IKEA New Haven and Family Promise of Central Connecticut help the community

IKEA New Haven co-workers, with the help of TaskRabbit for Good, worked with Family Promise of Central Connecticut to design, renovate, and create a new office and donation space to help families with children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Now local families in need can more easily find solace and free everyday essentials, from hygiene supplies to toys.

"In the spirit of the holiday and giving season, we are all extremely grateful to have been able to work with and impact an organization that so closely embodies IKEA’s values."

IKEA Costa Mesa hosted Thanksgiving for the community

IKEA Costa Mesa and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast brought more than 300 community members together for a Thanksgiving feast at the store’s restaurant – with a twist. Co-workers served turkey and traditional Thanksgiving foods, along with Swedish meatballs and lingonberry jam. After dinner, guests enjoyed music by Mariachi Folklore and took home fall-themed family portraits.

The Intercultural Affairs & LGBTQAI+ Resource Room at Howard University

We were excited to help furnish and redesign The Intercultural Affairs & LGBTQAI+ Resource Room at Howard University, in Washington, D.C. The ribbon cutting took place during the university’s historic Homecoming Week and it was highlighted at the Lavender Reception, a celebration of pride, resilience and community for the Howard student body. We were happy to help bring the celebration to a new level, emphasizing the importance of creating safe, welcoming and functional spaces for students to thrive.

"Our collaboration with Howard University reflects our commitment to fostering inclusive environments and supporting the next generation of leaders."
