Want to know more about the air you breathe at home? This easy-to-use air quality sensor gives you all the information you need. You can also make it a part of your smart home for more great functions.

Product details

This sensor checks the air quality by monitoring harmful particles (PM2.5), temperature, relative humidity and total Volatile Organic Compounds (tVOC) in your home.

Place it in the living room, bedroom, or other rooms where you spend a lot of time. With its small size, you can easily move it from room to room so you can rest assured that the air quality is good.

Upgrade your STARKVIND air purifier(s) by adding this sensor that offers more precise air quality measurements and can be placed in a central location in the room, away from the purifier.

By keeping an eye on things as harmful particles, temperature, humidity and volatile organic compounds you can affect the air quality at home and also help prevent for example mold and mildew growth.

The arrow shows if the level of tVOC is increasing, decreasing or is stable. tVOC stands for total volatile organic compounds from, for example, paint, cooking or cleaning and household products.

By connecting this product to DIRIGERA hub, you can see the air quality in the IKEA Home smart app. We make continuous updates so that the sensor and the app only get better and better over time.

With a smart home from IKEA, it's easy to create smarter everyday moments with lighting, speakers, blinds and air quality products.

Good to know

Activities in the home like cooking, using an open fireplace, and aerosols can release harmful PM2.5 particles. They can also seep in from polluted outdoor air.

PM2.5 are small inhalable particles, that measure 0.1-2.5 micrometers.

This product is part of our smart home range. Connect it, along with other smart products, to DIRIGERA hub and IKEA Home smart app for more features and functions, that you can control from anywhere, not just when you're at home.

This smart product cannot be connected to a TRÅDFRI gateway.

USB power adapter sold separately.

Love itJimI love the data that this device provides. HOWEVER, 2 things, I wish the precursor to this device was connectable to the dirigera. And I wish you could control plugs/lights based off of conditions the Vindstyrka provides, IE if the TVOC values rise to X, then enable a tretakt to be "on" (in this situation: the tretakt plug is powering an exhaust fan).5
Nice design, but poor precisionShawnI love the design, but the precision on the temperature is so poor (about 1.8F) that it's worthless for tracking temperature.2
Vindstyrka SensorPamelaI love it. It gives the current inside temperature and humidity at a glance. I like knowing the air quality for health issues. 5
Wrong Humidity information JoseThe sensor reports wrong humidity information. I have different devices, including my thermostat, that show humidity and they are all around the same range except for this. Now I don't trust other measurements either, although, temperature seems to be correct.2
Changing my review on this item.BryanI wrote a review indicating that the unit was locked up, displaying a very high reading. Power cycling did nothing. After a day, I decided to give it another try. This time it came right back up. It seems that if the particulate reading gets too high, the unit doesn't know what to do and just locks. So, it's working again, but there still seems to be a weird firmware issue where it locks at high readings. 4
no loggingArgynthe device appears to be working. however, for 50$ product I expected it to log the readings. It only shows current state, and doesn't remember past. you can't look at trends.4
DIdn't last long at allBryanThis little sensor array worked well for about 60 days. Today (April 11) notice that it was displaying a very high reading after cooking something, but had not changed in several hours. When I repowered the unit, the display shows 0/32/0 for measurements. I tried a couple of times, using a different cable and power adapter. It simply does not seem to work anymore. I would have expected it to last a little longer than this.1
Nice and compactTI like this little device. It gives me great info about the particular room it's in. The particulates that are floating about, the temperature and the humidity. It can be dimmed completely or give off some light. I prefer the totally dimmed in the bedroom. It gives me all of that at a glance. The price isn't bad either considering I've purchased 4 of these. Worth the price in my opinion. I would recommend this. It can be synced with a couple of the air filters from Ikea but the ones I have work just fine for my needs. I really don't need them to be synced. My only con is that they don't come in colour options. I would love to see this in black to match the rest of my decor. The white kind of sticks out but it's such a minute con that it can be over looked.5
Air Quality TrackerJessicaBought this item to track air quality following the wildfires and it's been very helpful. It's great that it also shows the temperature of the room. Two items for the price of one.5
Great Piece of Kit!RichardWorks brilliantly! I'd have expected to pay way more for a device like this!5
affordable PM 2.5 monitorPaolaAffordable PM 2.5 monitor. I can see the reading go up when the stove or oven is on. Compatible with Alexa Amazon, and Ikea Dirigera (updates firmware). Temperature and humidity reading not 100% accurate. 5
Ok IAQ monitorPaulI would like to see a numeric value for VOCs and also have it accessible via Apple HomeKit. Other than those two limitations it seems to be accurate.3
Looks great, accuracy is questionable JNice to have a PM2.5 meter along with temperature and humidity but I’ve found the humidity readings to be ~20% higher than 3 other humidistats in the same vicinity. Temp also trends ~3(F) higher than the actual room temperature. This can connect to Home Assistant through zigbee2mqtt (as of 10.1.24) for those wondering.3
Great valueDylanSuper accurate PM2.5 reading. Really helped me improve and ensure my air filter placement5
Works well. Humidity on mine seems fine.AnonymousUsing with Home assistant Zigbee. Works well. I actually use it as a humidistat and I'm pleased with it's performance. Also, it's fantastic to remind us to turn on the vent for the stove and oven. The VOC measurement is sort of worthless, but whatever. It's definitely not a calibrated, precision instrument, nor is it priced like one. Humidity sensors are hard to do for cheap, so the complaints from other reviewers don't hold much water with me. If you're running a laboratory, you should know better. If you're not, adjust your expectations. 5
Paired w/Starkvind air purifierMichaelI’m giving this product 3 stars for 2 reasons 1) tVOCs show on the display but you are unable to access this info in the product or in the IKEA Smart Home app 2) HomeKit integration is very good. However, I am unable to choose Auto as a setting in the Home app. I can only choose On/Off and adjust the fan level. I have to use the IKEA Smart Home app to set it back to Auto3
Fails to pair with DirigeraAnonymous reviewerAlas, I had high hopes, but this fails to pair with Dirigera base station, making it useless for automating things. I've confirmed I have the latest firmware installed on the Dirigera base station. I've tried restarting both the base station and the Vindstyrka. I've tried pairing it multiple times. I get the blinking "pairing" icon, it then goes solid, but the Home Smart app just hangs at "Looking for sensors" no matter how many times I try. Ikea makes many wonderful things, but this does not live up to the quality I'd expect.1
Useful little gadgetPaulNice stand alone gadget useful for any home. But also some back end smarts that allow for data tracking using both IKEA's eco system and 3rd party ones5
Fascinating to see this during Canadian wildfire plumeJohnThis is a robust little product that seems to be accurate. In my closed and conditioned house, it’s normally measuring almost no 2.5. When I bake for a couple of hours (electric oven, high temp), it registers about 180. Yesterday and today I calibrated it against Apple Weather for my location. It was close last night. With my specific location and height above sea level in my creek valley, I got a credible reading of 625 with yellow skies, difficulty breathing, etc., consistent with downstream of a firestorm. This product is fantastic. I wish I could sample automatically and regularly and download it to a spreadsheet.5
