A little tweaking needed. EricaOverall, I really like the VIHALS sideboard. It looks nice, has a clean, simple design, and gives you a good amount of storage for the price. Assembly was fairly straightforward, but there were a couple of things that could be improved.
My biggest issue was that some screws were missing, which was frustrating during assembly. I also wish the hinges came pre-installed on at least one part of the cabinet to make assembly a little easier. Another improvement would be offering an option for legs, since I think that would give the sideboard a little more versatility and allow it to better fit different decorating styles.
Overall, I’m happy with it and would recommend it, but a few small design and assembly improvements would make it even better.
Easy Build, Sturdy and Just RightMichaelI bought this side table/cabinet unit to store cleaning products, games, and other items. The upper shelves have just enough depth for basics like candles, remotes, and spare lightbulbs, while the cabinets offer a ton of space with surprising interior depth. The panel boards are thin enough to be sturdy yet roomy.
It was easy to build, taking about an hour and 15 minutes with just a screwdriver and Allen key. My only note is the shelf bracket spacing, which sits about half a centimeter off from the door frames below.
Great storage unit!CindyThis is so much more roomie than I actually thought it would be! I love using this to store board games and electronics. It helps keep things hidden in my living room while looking sleek and well put together. It’s sturdy. The drawers are a great size too!
The Vihals Sideboard - Perfect Fit!VictorI couldn't be happier with the VIHALS Sideboard in white. I was searching for a storage solution that would fit perfectly underneath my twin daughters' Room & Board steel high bed, and this sideboard exceeded all expectations.
The dimensions were absolutely ideal, allowing it to slide neatly beneath the lofted bed while maximizing every inch of available space.
Assembly was straightforward, and the sideboard feels surprisingly sturdy and well-made for the price. The storage capacity is excellent, providing plenty of room for toys, books, clothes, and all the little treasures that seem to accumulate in a child's room. The doors and drawers operate smoothly, and the minimalist design gives the room a polished, custom-built appearance.
What I appreciate most is how the VIHALS helped transform otherwise unused space into functional storage without sacrificing style. It looks like it was made specifically for this setup.
Great piece!LindsaySuper easy to assemble, love the color, and great overall piece! There are nice touches like the hardware that’s the same color that are also subtle, and a gap on the backside for cords. I was fully prepared for a full day to figure this out and the usual assemble, then disassemble, then reassemble. Not the case! I wish all IKEA items made this much sense to build. Also love that it’s a different color than black, black/brown, or white.

Great BargainEllenI’ve wanted a sideboard for years. When I saw the Vihals come on sale we bought it right away. It took a while for the two of us to put it together. I’m very methodical when it comes to IKEA furniture assembly, and we had no problems. Tons of room and easy to keep clean. I love it!
Great sideboardPamFits perfectly under the peninsula in my kitchen. I needed more storage and this works perfectly for my needs.
Very niceStephanieI bought mine purposely for my board games. I wanted to hide them and store them. I replaced a shelf I used for games with this and I love it. I actually have extra room for other things because it’s spacious.
Not as good as other Ikea productsRyanIt functions but pretty disappointed with this product quality. The top came with white paint speckles all over the top. I mostly scrapped these off- but come on! It was also missing 4 screws. Also, Ikea products usually have at least some real wood but this one had none. Connectors are now plastic instead of metal. And the instructions were really hard to follow. I've been buying Ikea products for many years and this is the worst one I've ever put together!!

Product functions well but some pieces are incredibly brittleKaylaWhen the sideboard arrived in delivery, one of the super thin railings on the side had already broken off. The assembly process crumbled it completely, on both sides. The rest of the assembly was okay. The sideboard looks nice and is still functional since the broken parts are at the back, but I cannot say this is a quality product.
The other feedback is around the bizarre replacement process. I had called IKEA about the broken railing and they agreed to ship a replacement for the broken part only.
Instead of a replacement part, I received an entire VIHALS (both boxes) and then, about 15 minutes later, a second IKEA crew asking to pick it up. Since I was not instructed to ship anything back, I didn't know what to do, so I declined.
When I called IKEA to clarify, they said that what I should do is open the new box, find the one piece I need, and give the rest of it back to the IKEA pickup crew even if the box was not intact. This process is sloppy and confusing.
Better than expectedDavidThe Vihals unit makes a terrific sideboard in our apartment. With two drawers and large cabinets, it provides a clean line and it's depth allows lots of storage. The finish is good and looks great.

Best thing from IKEAAlyssaI love how they engineered this. Probably the most solid thing I've ever bought from IKEA. The drawers were much easier to put together than the PAX ones I'd assembled before. And the door fronts were very easy to adjust. Hope they sell this for a long time.
Great addition to our living space CindyWe are short on storage in a 1937 bungalow. This cabinet stores all of our extensive media collection, candles, batteries, and miscellaneous in an organized fashion. Pretty straightforward assembly instructions and you definitely need 2 people.
Missing and incorrect parts!LisaThis is the last cheap Ikea piece of furniture I will buy. I purchased two Vihals sideboard units and the first one assembled Ok but it was missing the screws to attach the drawer pulls. Also, bits of it broke off as it was being assembled. It's constructed of very cheap materials. The second unit was missing the drawer screws again and drawer runners. The back pieces will not line up with the holes no matter how I turn them. Also missing are the plastic pieces that go into the holes to secure it to the back. I've now ordered them twice (once via that chat feature and the other by phone) and I don't have any confidence I'll see them. I would have returned both pieces but I live over two hours away and it is $45 in gas to do so. I've bought Ikea furniture for years and I'd rather pay three times what these cost for a better quality piece of furniture. Very disappointing.
Missing entire back piece. Drawer crooked.AmyThe entire back piece is missing!! That’s right - you need two back pieces to assemble and only one in the box. Leaves a giant opening in the back. Also the drawer slide holes on the right side panel are higher than everything else. This results in a crooked right drawer that is high on that side, doesn’t close properly, and gets stuck. Really poor quality control on this item.

Sufficient for my sufficient for my needs, not the highest quality, easy to put togetherAngiePros: it fit a very specific space for which it was needed. It is easy to put together. The back is sturdier than the usual cardboard/masonite backing that is more typical of this level of furntiture. Cons: ghastly cheap particle board. I would not plan to move this around, as it is bound to loosen over time. The particle board itself breakes very easily, so it won't take much wear and tear. I hate the slot-style connection system. It makes a fairly simple build a two-person job unnecessarily. It's difficult to adjust the doors so that they don't have gaps. I'm concerned with how well this will hold up over time and whether or not I can successfully mount some things to it that I want for my craft room.
