Can’t Set UpDenaI’m an avid Google Home user for all my lights, and use an iPhone 11– I’m unable to actually even connect to this device cuz my phone is too outdated to connect to a thread router? It’s a massive bummer as I’ve been able to connect a variety of bulbs to my network using Matter, but this one requires specific equipment and a complicated process. Will have to rerun2

Matte White Look is Ugly, can't swap with Glossy coverSarthakI like Matter compatibility and that you can connect to Hue using Zigbee (I connected it to Hue). But it's so ugly. The matte white cover is very ugly. They need to use a glossy cover, ideally a different color. IKEA, an RGB light does not need to be "white" to look good. Your hogvind lamps look fantastic, and they are surrounded in a dark grey cover. Even using the original orange cover would be preferred.3
Tons of potential; Connectivity needs more workLukeThe follow up VARMBLIXT is stunning, though different than its predecessor: it features matte white glass with a white base, which makes sense since it is supposed to change colors. The Matter connectivity of the remote and lamp drove me crazy for hours. I run a Google Home smart system, have the DRIGERA hub for an older IKEA bulb that operates on Zigbee—the bulb seamlessly connected to both the IKEA Home Smart app and my Google ecosystem simultaneously with the hub, but the VARMBLIXT struggles mightily to connect to both. Frankly, it can’t. It is either IKEA’s ecosystem or Google’s. After many attempts at power cycling and hard resets of routers, lamps, etc. and a seemingly fruitless chat session with IKEA support, I settled on connecting the VARMBLIXT to Google alone and now it operates smoothly. If the bugs are ironed out, this lamp is gonna be a good one for a long time. I love both generations of this lamp!4
Lesser quality, unable to set upChrisI have many ikea smart devices and this one I’m unable to set up. Batteries are not included and the item feels cheaper than the original. Overall probably gonna return this.1
Good and badChrisI was really looking forward to this. Here's my thoughts: Love that it's Matter capable, I look exclusively for Matter capability in all my smart home purchases these days. I run a very busy smart home ecosystem through Google Home. Don't love that the donut is kind of dim, I would much prefer it to get very bright. I'd be happy with a 60-100w equivalent. Also dont like that the warmest white is really artificial looking as if this didn't use good quality distinct warm white LED diodes. When sat next to a Philips Hue warm white bulb, the not amazing quality of this lamp's LEDs was made very apparent. I prefer colors that exist in a natural way and the colors accessible through Google Home felt very artificial. Which may be fine for you but it's not my style. I'd much the glossy glass of the original over this smooth matte finish. This somehow looks more forgettable in a matte.2
Came with defective power adapter.KhanhPurchased one today from a local store and was excited to get it set up. Unfortunately, the power adapter included in the box was defective. That led to a couple of hours of troubleshooting before I realized the issue, and I had to drive back to the store to exchange it. After swapping it out, I was finally able to get it running with the remote, but I still couldn’t get it to connect through Matter for some reason. I eventually gave up for now—already spent half of my Sunday dealing with it. So far, I’m not very impressed with the quality.3

    “VARMBLIXT lamp has always been about how light is experienced. When we set out to update it with smart features, we wanted to focus on how the light and colors shift. The matte surface allows the light to glow softly from within the lamp, and we’ve spent a great deal of time fine-tuning the transitions between the selected light colors.
