Randomly shattered in the middle of nightAshishPurchased in August 2016 during complete kichen remodel. It suddenly randomly shattered last night with hundreds of small glass pieces. Lots of them fell on the kitchen counter and floor when door was opened. Really not sure why this would happen, it was not being used when it shattered. Now we are worried that other shelf will also do the same. Also not sure if it's worth replacing with another same one.
Randomly shatteredDebbieHad this corner unit for 6 years than one night I hear a loud bang. Come down to discover broken glass on my floor and counter. Opened the cabinet door and pieces came spilling out. Not sure why this would happen. Just thankful it wasn’t both shelves but now I’m concerned about replacing it with the same product

Shattered SuddenlySimiI left a 1-star review only because the carousel shelf worked well for 4 years until it suddenly and unexpectedly shattered. I regret not reading other reviews before I installed it. I hope that IKEA considers making these shelves with a material other than shatterable glass.
Spontaneously Shattering Glass ShelvesMelissaWe have this in one of the upper corner cabinets of a property we are renovating, we are not even living in the house yet and randomly the bottom shelf of this carousel shattered in the middle of the night, it didn’t even have anything on it. I contacted ikea to tell them and sent them pictures and got an automated email that someone would respond in 24 - 48 hours…. 5 days later still no response. I checked my email this morning and see a “your item is on the way” email from yesterday. It looks like they are sending a replacement but no one bothered to contact me prior. I don’t really want another one with glass shelves, do you not make this with just regular shelves not glass? Also we are really worried about how to replace this inside the cabinet as they are already hung and in place. Side note our other upper cabinets shelves are also glass, we have a 36 and a 15 in addition to the corner unit. Why?!? I don’t remember asking for glass shelves. IKEA be better.
Shattered shelfLisaThis unit worked great for 1.5 years, but tonight, as I was standing in the kitchen talking to my kids, we heard a huge pop and then tiny glass chunks started pouring out of the corner cabinet. It was a huge mess of glass chunks and shards all over the kitchen counters and floor. I don't think the glass shelves are strong enough for pantry items, which is what I use this akward corner cabinet for. Disappointed.
It shatters SamsonI love the product, but after a while it shuttered, I purchased and installed another one . I have no idea why it shuttered no one was near by no injuries.

Flimsy: shelves wobble; a space waster.IraThere are three totally fatal flaws with this. 1) The wobble; 2) only 2 shelves; 3) too much space wasted below the bottom shelf. I don't know anyone who is happy with this carousel except 4 of the reviewers on this page. The wobble is a killer. The shelves are flimsy. There is no other word for it. Then: there are only 2 shelves. You can add 1-2 extra shelves by buying a second unit and combining them--but there goes your warranty. If you want a 4th shelf, you will need to drill an extra hole into the pole near the top. Finally, there are almost 3 inches below the bottom shelf. The flimsy wobble issue also afflicts Ikea's base corner cabinet carousel.
Ikea does not stand by kitchen cabinet warrantiesAnonymousI bought the previous version of this cabinet carousel, which was called the Rationell. One of the plastic pins that connects the lower glass shelf to the wire frame portion broke about eight years later (warranty is 25). I went to Ikea and they sent me the pin that goes to the Utrusta, which is a completely different size. The wobble then caused the whole central pole to pull out of its base. I am now hiring a person to evaluate whether the pole can be fixed and if it can I will contact Ikea to send me more of the new pins. Or I may just replace it with this cabinet. This will end up costing me a great deal of time and effort and Ikea should have taken responsibility for it. I also had trouble with the cabinets I purchased from Ikea not lasting and had the same experience with Ikea not helping with those. Ikea is still a very good value, but the 25 year warranty is not real, in my experience.

Wonderful!KathrynThe carousel makes the corner cabinet infinitely more usable than just shelves. As a suggestion, I would recommend that IKEA add an optional 3rd shelf for 40 inch cabinets. In the absence of this, I bought a second set to get the 3rd shelf.
Needs some tweaking!AnonymousThis would be perfect if Ikea...... Fixes the wobble. As you turn it, it actually has somewhat of a wobble, so, if you're storing glassware, you might need to be extra careful with stemware. Also, you really need a non skid liner on top of shelves. I bought the rubbery style from Target (white) bc Ikea shelf liners are the worst, and wouldn't look good or keep glassware from skidding. Also, Ikea needs to supply a liner template for this unit. Cutting & sizing for shelf liner was a nightmare; very time consuming. Finally, this unit only has 2 shelves which allows for a lot of wasted space, so before you install, buy a second unit, and use 1 of the shelves to add (that's your only option since you can't just buy a single glass shelf). They do look nice, even with shelf liner, and I'd rather have a carousel in a corner unit than not. You will definitely need a liner & the white (rubberish mesh) looks nice & clean.

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
