Reviews

I hate this couch with every part of me.MichelleI spent many months looking for a “cloud type” couch within my budget. I loved the Ektorp but was d/c. This was supposed to be “comparable”Jokes on me! Colors don’t match choices. I chose the beautiful army green- that looked like cotton. Instead I got a “split green pea soup velvet” couch from the 70’s”. Having to spend $ to return it AND then more $ on BLACK- I received a NAVY BLUE cover. It is NOT black, not even close. Navy isn’t even an option. The covers are so tight on the cushions the zippers are at a tearing point. The material is NOT soft cotton but hard and it scrapes on your bare skin. My daughter cries that that she scratches herself on it. Bc of the tight cushions, nothing sits evenly, & can’t “fluff”. The ottoman doesn’t match up with the height of the couch and the underside is already broken off AND is a different color. It is the most uncomfortable couch. Every day I walk in my house, I get angry. I’ve decide to let my cats have at it. About $2000 down the drain.1
Ok but has problemsSaraThis sofa is fine, but the cushions do not hold up well, particularly the one behind the chaise. The chaise cushion does not sit flush to the back of the sofa so the cushion is always sliding down. Also, I am constantly having to take the most used cushion of to fluff and reshape.2
Doesn't hold up!CraigOur sofa with chaise and footstool are only about three years old. The cushions are pretty much trashed. We rotate them on a regular basis. It hasn't helped as the quality is so poor. The armslack adequate padding. It's painful when you lean against them. We are an elderly couple with no children. Neither of us are large. Two years is the most this product will last and still look decent.2
Don’t listen to themDannahThis couch is supportive, wide, and comfortable. Never having tried the Ekktorp couch - this thing is phenomenal. The couch covers are not difficult to remove, wash, and return. The main skirt takes a little bit of time but really this couch is wonderful. I agree with the other review; don’t be scared off this couch is great!5
Love this sofaGretaReading some of the reviews about the sofa being more uncomfortable than what they sat on in the store. Once you live on it, it definitely becomes WAY more comfortable. I've had the sofa for about a year now and love it!!!!!5
Not the comfy couch you were looking forDeeSorry but it wasn’t at all as comfy as the one we tried in the store. It is hard, stiff and the chaise is overstuffed and is higher than the other couches. It wasn’t what I expected and I am so disappointed 2
I would return this if I couldKelseyThis is the most uncomfortable couch I have ever sat on. The cushions are WAY too big for the couch. So much so that I thought IKEA sent the wrong cushions. It is like a couch sized high chair. My feet can’t even touch the floor. Had the Ektorp and loved it. This couch will sit in my basement unused. Total waste of money, but so hard to return. 1
So Unhappy. Miss my Ektorp.BrandyI received the Uppland with Chaise as a housewarming gift after having an Ektorp for 9 years! I loved the Ektorp. Unfortunately, the supports were giving out in the end where we sat the most and we couldn’t switch the chaise position in the new place. We still needed washable slipcovers, so…IKEA! Such a huge fail. We had already sent the old sofa to the dump otherwise I would have relegated the Uppland to the office and put a board under the cushions of the Ektorp. I kept my Ektorp armchair and ottoman. I am going to go on Etsy to buy matching slipcovers for all three pieces of furniture now. I would rather do that than get the matching Uppland furniture. I don’t understand WHY IKEA continues to sell Ektorp in the UK and in Europe but not in the US despite the bad reviews. Ridiculous. 2
The reviews almost scared me offRebeccaI’m not sure why this sofa has so many bad reviews. I put mine together by myself fairly easily, and am so pleased with the comfortability. The floor models are sat on hundreds of times a day, 7 days a week, so naturally they will feel more broken in. Don’t let the reviews scare you off - this couch is great!5
Don't buy this couch!!JenniferAs many of the other reviewers have said, the Uppland is a true FAIL in comparison to the old Ecktorp sofa/sectional. BRING BACK THE ECKTORP!! We purchased this sofa with chaise back in April/May in Kilanda light beige and it is just awful. The cover doesn't sit right (it never has) and it is scratchy and started pilling almost immediately (we had our old Ecktorp sofa for 11 years and never had an issue). I cannot stand this sofa and am now having to look for a replacement... pretty sure we won't be buying it from IKEA which stinks because we usually have great luck. Please stop making this sofa and BRING BACK THE ECKTORP!2
Bait and switch?Lora The uppland in the store does not feel or sit (height wise) like the one you will receive. I would never had bought this sofa if my feet would've been 13 inches from the ground (as it is now). Other people have said the floor models are different, add me to that list. This sofa is legitimately the most uncomfortable couch I have ever sat on. I am going to have to find a way to get this thing back in for a full refund. Don't buy!1
Whatever you do - do not buy this NoelleI bought this sofa in late 2022, and regret it every day. The model in the store feels entirely different than the actual product you receive. The store model was very soft and comfortable, but the sofa we received is incredibly hard and stiff. We assumed it was simply because it was new, but at this point it has been over a year and a half and the couch is still incredibly stiff and uncomfortable. I find myself actively avoiding using it and choosing the floor. If I could go back in time I would never have bought this product and I really recommend you don’t either because it does not get any better with time. 1
So comfy SueThis is the most comfortable IKEA couch I have ever owned. I have taken some wonderful naps on it. 5
The Ektorp was so much better. Such a disappointment.MonicaWe bought these to replace old Ektorp sofas. The Uppland is nowhere near as good as the Ektorp. Within a week, all the arms had broken away from the sides. We don't have children using them. Just 2 adults. One of the biggest purchase regrets we've ever had. We couldn't return the items, as we bought online while living in North Dakota, and it was not feasible to drive 8 hours each way to return them. So 2 years later, we still have them and still hate them. 1
Love it.! MeylingThe simple fact that I can throw the covers in the washing machine has me excited 10/105
10 year warranty?FayThis couch is such a disappointment. I’ve had it just about a year and the cushions are still hard as a rock. From day one, the cover never lined up and the plastic like material is so uncomfortable. The cover ripped the last time I put it on because it’s way to small for the cushions. I purchased the same version of this couch but smaller 4 years ago and loved it. I’m curious why this is advertised as having a 10 year warranty but all Customer service responds with is a 180 day return policy (which is a maybe return policy that no one has a clear answer to)?1
Bring back Ecktorp !!!EllenThe covers are extremely hard to get on and are very tight, so because of that the seams and zipper areas are ripping. I dread having to put these on after washing them. The seat cushion covers can only be used on one side and are not flippable . The chaise cushion and cover is very poorly designed and looks awkward. This sofa and cover doesn't look nearly as nice as on the website. It looks sloppy and ill fitting and cheap! So sorry I bought it. I miss the Ecktorp series!1
Skip this oneTammyWe purchased an IKEA sectional for our daughter approximately eight years ago and it has held up very well. The slip covers wash beautifully and are well made. I was expecting the same quality product when I purchased the Uppland, however I’m extremely disappointed in the sofa and in particular, the slip covers. The sofa has already sustained a tear in the chaise lounge upholstery where my husband put his feet. The original set of slip covers are already starting to rip at the seams, one of the zippers came off during washing, and other zippers are no longer functional. Another set of slip covers had malfunctioning zippers straight out of the box. I bought a third set of slip covers and haven’t taken them out of the box. I plan on returning them based on the poor quality of the others. The sofa and slip covers are about 3 months old and a HUGE waste of money!2
The perfect modern sofaGisselOur family loves this sofa. It is perfect, makes our home look beautiful. We are very happy with this comfortable sofa.5
DisappointedErinWe've had this sofa for 18 months now and I have the same frustrations now as I did when we bought it. The cushions are extremely firm. After months of use, they show signs of where people sit, but they don't get any softer. The chaise especially looks ridiculous because the part where you sit is significantly lower than the foot of the chaise. I wish I could attach a picture. We tried putting the cushions in the wrong way (because there is a "right" way) and that helped for a few months but now where back in the same boat. And these slip covers are equally as frustrating. Nearly impossible to get on, and then they never look right no matter how hard you try. We have the totebo beige and whatever this material is it hangs on to crumbs. You can't just wipe something off the sofa because the material has grooves and grips the crumbs. It's also very easy to mark up and I did not have good luck washing them. I had to iron the entire slipcover again because of all the wrinkles.2
