Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

It’s just okay, not for daily useHayleyWe have a glass carafe for our coffee maker and wanted to use this daily to keep our coffee hot. It works fine to keep it warm most of the day, all day if you warm it up with hot water before pouring in the coffee.
I say it’s not for regular daily use because ours has started to rust around the edges where the metal meets the plastic lid. Also, over the course of a few months the lid leaks to high heaven. It will not pour properly. We’ve had it since May and it’s October so it has lasted less than 5 months being used daily and hand washed. Pass if you need it for daily coffee, otherwise it’s nice.

It does exactly what it says it would and it's greatJeffI've had my UNDERLATTA for a few weeks now, and it's changed my mornings. It works exactly as described -- I've left hot coffee in it for eight hours or more and come back to a nice warm cup with minimal temp and quality loss. I also have used it for iced coffee as well with similar outcomes -- at about eight hours later, the ice hadn't yet fully melted, and the drink was (unsurprisingly) ice cold. I'd been looking for a good carafe to pull weekend pourovers into, and this does the trick. Would recommend!

Weird design flawsChristopherThis thermos is what I consider a rare Ikea design fail. It looks good but taking the lid off for pouring liquid into the flask is awkward. When putting the lid back the mechanics required are counter intuitive. When pouring into the flask the level inner ring means some liquid stays there rather than running into the flask as it should. When pouring from the flask with lid on the lid is visually distracting.
