junkIpooh1971this thing doesn't not work. first you need to make sure you get a cable to be able t use it. I spent hours trying to pair it with a remote controller. this should be literally a 1 minute thing. such a waste of money and time!1
blinks and doesn"t sync with dimmer controltapac333I bought the 30W driver with 5 different LED dimmable under-cabinet strips and 2 dimmer remote controls (a tiny square one with on/off/dim, and a round one with power/brightness/color shift.) Soon as I connecter dimmer to 1 light source and turned it on to test it it began blinking every 10s or so. Reseting dimmer didn't help. I switched lights and it didn't help. I followed instructions to connect the wireless dimmer switch, and neither would sync. I swapped new batteries from Ikea in too. I followed Ikea instructions on resetting the dimmer AND on the remote and nothing worked. Still blinking with no control. Sounds to me like these are just poor quality drivers. Added 5 lights on dimmer, all blinked at same time.. so clearly this new driver is now working out of the box and I couldn't get it to sync either.1
This flickers off and onMoiperI have one of these that works great but I ordered a second one for another space and it flickers off and on. Complained and was shipped another one (a month later) and same result.1
Works as advertised. Connects to SmartThings hub!mattballI bought this to drive 4 24 OMLOPP LED lights for a shelf installation. At the time I didn't realize that this device on its own was sufficient to connect to my ancient SmartThings hub. What a lovely surprise - all I had to do was hold the pairing/reset button in and hooked it up no problemo.5
Dim, brighten, change the hue, awesome!MynewkitchenBought 2 spotlights and 2 flat panel over counter lights for my wine bar. They look great and were easy to install5
Compact and unobtrusiveDeejay46Lights have been installed for six weeks now. Work exactly as expected and are paired to drivers. Only inconvenience is that I used 8 lights and 2 drivers. That’s a lot of wire to hide.5
I have 4 of these in my kitchenBri2JoI have 4 of these in my kitchen, 3 that control the in cabinet lighting, and 1 on a remote control for the glass cabinet and under cabinet lighting. None of them have had any problems. You have to be smart about the installation, and put them in an area where you can access them if necessary. I do fully expect these to fail one day, as I do with anything electronic. I also expect the lights to fail one day, thus placing these units were they can be accessed to disconnect the lights if necessary. All 4 units work flawlessly. Having all the lights in the drawers is a really nice upgrade, and the under and in-cabinet lighting is great. The remote works well, and was easy to figure out. The only thing that is tricky is when you sync the remote to the unit, you should switch off (or unplug) any other tradfri controller you don't want sync'd to the remote. Otherwise, they will all sync up to the remote. Read the remote instructions if you are confused.5
Poor quality, returned.Grig DKeeps flicking every 10 seconds, even with an LED bulb installed. KNOWN issue (check online). IKEA should NOT see them any longer, it was a waist of time for me.1
Beyond frustratingAIR_StudioI don’t know if is only me. But I don’t have any luck linking devices of the tradfri serie. I gave up completely in other than the E26 bulbs are the only ones that seems to link with no problem first try. The rest of the serie seems to be imposible to be found. Today I got the tradfri driver with 9 lights. But the only thing it does is blink every 10 second non stop. I tried to pair it a million times. Is so frustrating! I love Ikea but I am just really getting to a point to just return everything and pay more for the hue system and see if I have more luck with that one.1
No Hue support; must buy remote if using gatewaySmart Home GuruI tried to get my Hue hub to discover these drivers but they just wouldn’t be discovered. Had to buy the gateway to identify firmware and then learned I had to buy the remote to even set up the drivers. V annoying.3
Easy to Pair with SmartHome systemsmartdotI purchased this to use with a different smart home setup and wasn't sure if it would work. It did, and now I have 2. One setup to control my under cabinet lighting in the kitchen (which is setup to mirror the dim % of the light over the sink) and the other in the closet which is triggered by a door sensor.4
Nice Design but Technically FlawedRK_DanaPointI purchased two of these units and several Ikea under-cabinet lights. After assembling them per the instructions the lights began to randomly blink. Switching out different lights with the two drivers didn’t solve the issue and so I ultimately returned them to the store.1
BrilliantDawn808Purchased a month ago for office shelving and emits various lighting brilliance depending on the mode you prefer. Easy to install above Billy bookcases and doesn't over power overhead lighting. Very nice ambiance.5

Easy and affordable home lighting technology

Rebecca Töreman is facing a group of journalists. They’re visiting the headquarters of IKEA design with hopes of getting a glimpse of innovative products. They bustle to see and touch what Rebecca and her team have spent the last two years creating: the IKEA Smart lighting range.  Read More
Rebecca is ready. She knows the reasoning and effort behind every aspect of the range, and she can explain how it will change life at home for the better. But her audience is enthralled with something she forgot could be exciting. “People were amazed with the remote,” says Rebecca. “That you could steer your lamps from wherever you are.” She laughs, pleased to be reminded it can be a delight to control the brightness or tone of a bulb remotely. “When you work with it so closely you get used to the products and the things they can do,” says Rebecca. “So, when you hear people ‘oh’ and ‘ah’ over the design and function of the remote—which I see every day—you feel very proud of what you’ve accomplished.”

Improving life at home

Smart lighting is one way we’re using technology to improve life at home. Imagine a cozy weekday family dinner, lights glowing soft and warm. When the meal is done, the table is cleared for homework, which calls for clean, bright light. The goal of Rebecca and the Smart lighting team is to make that transition simple and smooth. Literally, it can be at the touch of a button. “Lighting is such an important part of life at home,” says Rebecca. “You do so many activities every day at home and the light needs to support you in doing all these things.” The range is made up of products that can be combined to create a personalized home lighting solution. It includes LED bulbs, panels and cabinet doors that can all be controlled by a remote. You can dim them and even change the tone of the light, from warm to cold. One remote can control up to 10 Smart lighting products.

Making home tech affordable

Smart lighting technology isn’t new, but so far it hasn’t been so accessible. “It’s been very expensive and complicated,” says Rebecca. “If we can develop Smart lighting that’s easy to understand and affordable, it actually becomes accessible to the many people.” When it comes to cost, Rebecca and her team set a personal goal. “What would we want to pay for a light bulb like this?” asks Rebecca. “We’ve been going back to this idea throughout the whole process.” Working with large volumes has helped lower costs and by collaborating with experienced tech suppliers, we’ve been able to find smart ways to save. Those savings are then passed on to the customer.

User friendly and convenient

By offering “kits” that have everything you need to get started, we make it easier to have Smart lighting in your home and if you end up wanting to expand your solution, it’s simple. “You can start with the function that suits you and your family’s life, and you can build on that,” says Rebecca. You can look forward to even more Smart lighting products from IKEA in the future. “There will be upgrades and new things customers can do to improve and build on the system,” says Rebecca, who sees a fuss-free future where very little can interrupt a lazy afternoon. “If you sit on your sofa and want to turn on the light, but the light switch is over on the wall, well, obviously with the wireless remote you don’t actually have to get up!”
