Awesome and simple to use!SissiBavarianPrincessI made an old entertainment unit over and needed some lights to spiffy it up a bit. I used this control and plugged in 6 lights. Even thiugh it is behind the unit I can easily use the remote to turn them all on and off. I plugged all 6 into an extension strip and the strip into the control which goes on the outlet. I installed them all myself! Great product!!5
Simple remote ON/OFF switch solutionDresusThis remote ON/OFF switch does exactly what I need it to do and the remote matches the others I have that control Tradfri lights. Note that the outlet is ON or OFF and does not dim. My only criticism is that it is slightly bulky; I did not take it apart, but it seems like the outer case is larger than it needs to be.5
Great wireless plugmontasser1111With the added on/off remote its perfect the best wireless plug at the best price5
Amazing!ColoradoColleenMy quest to find a product like this started with laziness... I didn't want to run around the house and dive behind furniture to turn on or plug in lights every day. I did several online searches, and most of what I found that would manipulate power supply remotely involved a full smart-home setup with either Google or Alexa. I didn't want this level of connectivity, and also I wanted a switch rather than voice activation. I finally asked my brother (an electrical engineer) if there were any options where I could basically just have a remote switch, and he pointed me to Ikea. I'm so glad I found this! I have a few throughout my house where just a single switch is linked to a single plug, and even that is so incredibly convenient. It was particularly handy during Christmas, so I could turn on lights from a switch in the kitchen, rather than diving behind the tree each time.5
Makes controlling electronics a breezechipladyI bought this to control a exhaust fan in the garage that is used for the 3-D printer. I have the remote in the kitchen so it does not get lost and it controls the outlet that is about 500 ft. away. If you need to control any electronics remotely I would recommend this5
Simple and effective.Ella lThis outlet kit is simple to set up and it works great.5
Problem solverRvrtRenovated kitchen left no disposer switch . This solved problem without cutting hole for air switch in new countertop.5
Easy and convenientJagneta64I purchased this for a pendant lamp without a switch. It’s perfect. I wish I bought more!5
Simple, Doesn’t require WiFiFF416Clean button design, fast set up, doesn’t require WiFi. Only minor complaint would be the size of the outlet module. Wish it were just a little less wide.4
Great if you do some researchharveycat2018I own four of these kits and I am planning on getting a few more. They are convenient and easy to set up--I have pretty much every lamp in my house hooked up to one of these. One thing that I found through research online is that you can group multiple outlets with the same remote--so I have all the lamps in my living room as a group, and then multiple switches at various convenient locations around the room to turn them all off or on at the same time. I would really recommend checking out Reddit for lots of tips for these. I love the convenience of not having to walk around to switch each lamp individually, and it's so much easier than having to dig for the cord behind the table to operate the inline switches.5
Straightforward and easy to useJimmy837I bought this to control a humidifier in my bedroom. I already have several Tradfri lightbulbs and a gateway, so adding the switch and outlet was easy. It’s too bad that HomeKit isn’t supported yet, but I’m told that will be coming along shortly. Even without it, the switch and smartphone control works like a charm (and I am already using the programmed scheduling on/off features).5
Absolutely awesome with one issueMajestic MooseI bought this a couple of weeks ago and use it for all my 'cozy' lighting like fairy lights, micro lights etc... setting it up is a breeze and super fast if you do it in the right order (pair the steering device first). I have two groups of three light sources. One has lights in three separate rooms and it is more than 11 yards and there are walls in-between, but it works great. It is like magic - a little touch and voilá, cozy lights are on. Even better is that I can control it from the app as well. I just leave the lights on and turn them off when I am going to bed. The only downfall is that this is missing integration into Apple Homekit, so I cannot just say 'Hey Siri - turn off cozy lighting' or add it to the schedules which I control from the home kit. This is an issue with a lot of smart home technology, so it is not a deal breaker for me, but I would love to control everything from one app.4
Nice concept, limited applicationMike12345I wish this were compatible with Zigbee devices/hubs from different companies. With the switch is very nice, and it works great for the Christmas tree3

Easy and affordable home lighting technology

Rebecca Töreman is facing a group of journalists. They’re visiting the headquarters of IKEA design with hopes of getting a glimpse of innovative products. They bustle to see and touch what Rebecca and her team have spent the last two years creating: the IKEA Smart lighting range.

Rebecca is ready. She knows the reasoning and effort behind every aspect of the range, and she can explain how it will change life at home for the better. But her audience is enthralled with something she forgot could be exciting. “People were amazed with the remote,” says Rebecca. “That you could steer your lamps from wherever you are.” She laughs, pleased to be reminded it can be a delight to control the brightness or tone of a bulb remotely. “When you work with it so closely you get used to the products and the things they can do,” says Rebecca. “So, when you hear people ‘oh’ and ‘ah’ over the design and function of the remote—which I see every day—you feel very proud of what you’ve accomplished.”

Improving life at home

Smart lighting is one way we’re using technology to improve life at home. Imagine a cozy weekday family dinner, lights glowing soft and warm. When the meal is done, the table is cleared for homework, which calls for clean, bright light. The goal of Rebecca and the Smart lighting team is to make that transition simple and smooth. Literally, it can be at the touch of a button. “Lighting is such an important part of life at home,” says Rebecca. “You do so many activities every day at home and the light needs to support you in doing all these things.” The range is made up of products that can be combined to create a personalized home lighting solution. It includes LED bulbs, panels and cabinet doors that can all be controlled by a remote. You can dim them and even change the tone of the light, from warm to cold. One remote can control up to 10 Smart lighting products.

Making home tech affordable

Smart lighting technology isn’t new, but so far it hasn’t been so accessible. “It’s been very expensive and complicated,” says Rebecca. “If we can develop Smart lighting that’s easy to understand and affordable, it actually becomes accessible to the many people.” When it comes to cost, Rebecca and her team set a personal goal. “What would we want to pay for a light bulb like this?” asks Rebecca. “We’ve been going back to this idea throughout the whole process.” Working with large volumes has helped lower costs and by collaborating with experienced tech suppliers, we’ve been able to find smart ways to save. Those savings are then passed on to the customer.

User friendly and convenient

By offering “kits” that have everything you need to get started, we make it easier to have Smart lighting in your home and if you end up wanting to expand your solution, it’s simple. “You can start with the function that suits you and your family’s life, and you can build on that,” says Rebecca. You can look forward to even more Smart lighting products from IKEA in the future. “There will be upgrades and new things customers can do to improve and build on the system,” says Rebecca, who sees a fuss-free future where very little can interrupt a lazy afternoon. “If you sit on your sofa and want to turn on the light, but the light switch is over on the wall, well, obviously with the wireless remote you don’t actually have to get up!”
