Love irEvaI placed 2 in front of my storage shelf’s and am waiting for a 3rd one. Since it’s handmade they do not stand or spread out identical but so it is. I like the organic look it has!
lovely dividerGinabut if YOUR floors are uneven so will the divider be. Most floors are not absolutely even so an even screen is left wonky. I put a little piece of cardboard under a foot of the screen. You can't see it and it works.
Pretty but limited usefulnessMaryI love the Tolkning headboard for my twin bed and got the screen to add some texture and coziness to a different room. It it really lovely but if your floors are not completely level, as mine are not, it’s hard to “plant” and I can’t fan it out much at all. This may be related to some of the feet not touching the floor so it doesn’t get traction. I like the Tolkning line and hope IKEA brings out more rattan furniture - especially the headboard sized to full or queen width - but this one I’d return but it doesn’t fit in my car and it’s too big to mail.

Very pretty, but…MariaNot very functional. The rattan weave is very open so you can basically see everything through the big holes. It feels more decorative but lacking in function. I wouldn’t expect much of a boost in privacy.

When we developed TOLKNING, we worked with experienced artisans. The result is a decorative and multi-functional series of natural fiber products that carry warmth, a unique expression, and lots of character.
Simi Gauba and Kristin Pfannenschmidt are two of our product developers who are based in Vietnam and work a lot with natural fibers. “When we created TOLKNING, we got help from skilled artisans who know the strengths and weaknesses of the material,” says Simi. “Without them, we wouldn’t be able to offer these products to our customers.”

Simi says that working with natural fibers can be challenging, but that is also a part of the charm. “The TOLKNING series reflects a heritage that is worth preserving – man and nature together and skills passed on from generation to generation. I think that’s one of the reasons why these kinds of products are so loved. They have a soul and warmth that many people like – perfect if you want to add genuine materials and natural beauty to your home.”

What is rattan?
Rattan is a strong yet lightweight and flexible material made from the rattan plant’s stem. It can be used both whole and split into thinner materials that are braided into things like furniture and baskets. Rattan belongs to the palm family and climbs along trees, though no trees are required to be felled when the rattan cane is harvested. Since it is a natural material and the products are often handmade by skilled craftspeople, each object gets a completely unique look.
