Love the chairs but they don’t lastLaurenWe’ve had these chairs around our breakfast table for about 15 years now. They get used daily and we love the way they look and feel but, as many other reviews have said, eventually they crack. We’ve replaced each of them at least twice. We started buying 2-3 at a time so we’d have an extra for when the inevitable happened but now, as I’m looking to replace another one, I’m thinking it may be time to search elsewhere for a different chair that will stand the rest of time and regular use.
Will crack if you sit improperly LindaI bought 4 of the smoke gray Tobias chairs in 2014, and over the years I've cracked two while my husband has cracked one. They will crack if you sit on the edge too frequently, or if you approach incorrectly. In my case, I have the tendency to either sit with my legs crossed, sit on my knees, or have one knee up, so I approach the chair knee first before sliding on, putting pressure on the middle of the front lip. I'm only 100lbs but over time, the stress was too much for the chairs. I tried to break the habit after cracking the 1st chair but i wasnt consistent and accidentally cracked the 2nd one. My husband is 185lbs and is still using the remaining intact chair by making sure he sits toward the back. I think smaller people will be more liable to crack the chairs since the weight isnt dispersed enough towards the sides where the supports are.

Nice chair, doesn't lastJoshHave bought probably a dozen of these over a few years and all but 2 have cracked and badly and have gotten some minor injuries from it. The return policy on damaged products is insufficient if not within 6 months (and they all crack right after that). Only reason I kept buying more was because I have it as a set in my kitchen and thought it would be cheaper to replace here and there but in the end it cost me hundreds of dollars extra for bad quality. Looks nice though.
Awesome Tobias Chair!PattyThe tobias chair is the best. It fits in to any decor. It does not take over other furniture and blends in with any decor. It was easy to assemble.

Cute but cracks with normal use and pinches skin!!LaraI've had this seat for a couple years. The seat cracked at the front with normal use - I am only 130 lb and just use this in the morning at my vanity. The crack pinched my leg really badly. This chair is dangerous. I contacted chat and they were less than helpful. Honestly, this chair should probably be recalled. I'm not the only one who has been pinched by the chair cracking at the front.
Chair cracked and caused injury KimberlyOur chair suddenly cracked after a little over a year of use. My daughter pinched and cut her leg when it cracked. So disappointing because she loved the chair and it looked great in her room.
Great Chairs!Tobias AnneClean modern lines and materials. Very sturdy and safe. Easy to put together. Quality materials. Love the smoke blue color. Love the "give" of these chairs. They are NOT stiff nor uncomfortable. They actually rock. You do not need cushions. I plan to buy more.
Very happy KateWe’ve been using these chairs daily for 13 years . They have gotten scratched etc but they have been used for again … for 13 years.
I did have a habit of using a couple for step stools and didn’t even stand above the frame so 2 have broken in 13 years and
I have a proper kitchen ladder now so the rest will probably last as long as we want them to.
I love the clean look and they don’t add bulk / visual weight to our small dining area .
I think they are a good value .
