Absolutely junkDavidNot quite as sturdy as a house of cards in a windstorm.
This thing is absolutely worthless. If it does stand up, it’s crooked. But don’t worry, it rarely stands up. It will continue to fall apart.
I suggest assembling it EXACTLY where you plan on using it, because if you don’t, you will be re-assembling it again when you get there.
Not a fan - do not recommendSybilI want to love this lamp but the assembly has ruined my experience. There is no obvious way to attach the shade to the base, not to mention I noticed a hole in the shade when unboxing. I guess the old adage about getting what you paid for applies here. I will be returning the product, though.
Good for What It IsJuliaThis lamp is exactly what I needed: an inexpensive lighting option for my classroom counter. I wanted something taller than a table lamp and this lamp's size was perfect (~45 inches if I remember correctly).
The reviews commenting on the flimsiness of the shade and difficulty putting it on aren't wrong. The shade is paper and could easily rip without being careful. I found for putting it together that I needed a second pair of hands to hold the frame while stretching the shade.
Overall I'm happy with this product for what it is.
Follow the instructions carefully!MaxI was almost scared off by some of these negative reviews. Don’t be scared! It has an odd way of assembling that requires you to almost rip the lampshade when attaching it at the base, but if you carefully make sure it’s seated in there, it holds the whole thing together and it’s very stable! I love the lamp, great size and diffuses my color changing bulbs wonderfully. I highly recommend for the price!

Strandad lampDanielaThis is a garbage product and design. Very delicate the frame that got out of place at the slightest movement of the lamp. Plus the paper shade! Gift wrapping very thin! It is impossible not to tear then the whole shade goes up! Awful product. What’s worse I spent a lot of time I don’t have to put it together then on the phone to try to process the refund then driving to the store and spend sone time there to get the refund! FedEx is terrible and didn’t want to drive to one or wait for it to come! My time is very precious. Spent a few good hours on this $20 product!
Not sure how they’re selling thisJamieI’m not sure if the one I got was completely defective or if it’s just supposed to be extremely flimsy and without parts fitting correctly. I know it was only $20, but still, I expected it to at least assemble properly. I wouldn’t waste your time.

Nice looking budget lamp.EmilyI’m a college student and I got this lamp for my bedroom in my apartment. It’s very nice looking compared to other cheap lamps on the market. Assembly was very simple. I know some reviews mention how they struggled with the metal bars on the lamp, but I found that if you push them in far enough to where you hear them click into place, they won’t fall out while putting the shade on. Overall very happy with my purchase!

The body of the lamp must be stretched to the base like a giant slinkee, and the problem with that is the metal rods that acts as structures for the body are not fitted properly. As you're stretching the fabric of the lamp, the rods will literally fall out because they're too small for their holes.
And the rods will fall out over and over again. And it WILL drive you crazy.
Forget my refund, I'll pay you $20 to get this garbage out of my apartment.
Bad structurePrabhaWhile assembling the whole part turn by turn it wouldn't get sturdy at all. Looks like the basic design wasn't properly studied and good for a long term investment. Getting the whole figure thing together was a big trouble itself. When I was done with the whole thing its structure turn out to be tilted in a side, no matter what I cannot make it straight. Putting the paper thing was another story, got torn on a side while trying to fit it. But it does look good when you lit the warm light. I wish you guys have studied more better structure and framework for this. It is a really good and beautiful lamp.

Impossible to assembleAbdullahI am extremely disappointed. I am a student and thought this lamp would be cool for my dorm. Little did I know that the lamp shade would rip during assembly - not out of user error - due to there being no place to grip it. I do not recommend at all
Ouch!!!AndraVery difficult to put together without puncturing the shade on the final snap. Actually caught skin on side of my index finger and created huge bruise and blister, hurts a week later. Got it to stand straight but wouldn’t buy it again.
Will not stay assembledAmyGreat basic lamp. I had high hopes for it, but no matter what I do, it just falls apart since the “legs” keep falling out of the sockets to put them into, which seem poorly made. Really disappointed since ikea’s less expensive stuff is still good quality, but this seems to be an exception.
Not idealMareahSo at first this lamp was very cute when I was in the store, but then after purchase I realized a couple things.
1. Extremely hard to put the shade on all the way. It ripped at the bottom.
2. It worked for about two days and now it will not turn on. I’ve tried different outlets, different bulbs and nothing will work.
Check them out for yourself!QuincyThese lamps are amazing! I just moved into my apartment and due to my space I couldn't decide between a lamp with multiple lights or something that stood out. I stumbled upon these at ikea and knew they would be great. I bought two and have them on both sides of my tv. They help add more character to the room and they are pretty bright. Great if you want to have a mood light type of setting! I would be careful with putting the shade on as it can tear easily but it's a lamp and for the most part it'll stand there and do it's job. If you're thinking about it, go for it! I highly recommend and for the price it's an amazing value.
Small, cheap…. Think twice JackieIf you want this for a baby nursery or kid play room, get it, but it’s garbage and I just wasted $30 on two of them because I don’t live close to an IKEA to return them and it would be too much trouble. These are like 3 feet tall. Ridiculous

With the STRANDAD lamp, I aimed for simplicity, both in terms of design and to keep the price down. The lamp had to fit into a small package and be easy to assemble. We explored different materials and shapes and ended up with this almost non-existing build: simply a paper cylinder that elegantly diffuses the light, and a metal wire base that follows the shape of the shade. It turned out this is all you need to create a nice, ambient light atmosphere throughout the home.
