No timer, no on/off switch: design cut to the boneGlennI bought a bunch of these as window candles for the holidays (at full price, unfortunately). There is a major design flaw, undisclosed by IKEA, driven - I think - by the desire to cut costs to the penny. Specifically, there is no timer on this, nor is there even a switch! To turn it off, you must REMOVE THE BATTERY (!) or twist the upper portion of the candle until the contact is broken with the battery, which leaves the upper shaft uneven and wobbly. Who on earth designed this? Feedback to IKEA design team: spend the extra penny for a switch, at least, or be generous and budget a nickel for a 6-hour timer. This is a candle, not rocket science. Can't be bothered to return them all. I used to trust IKEA as design-led, but now question that given my experience with this and other recent purchases. Prices are up, design integrity and quality are down.
Very nice, perfect night light, great price!EdwardIt's true, there is no timer function, and no on/off switch, once you install the battery, it remains on and no way to turn it off. And the screw to attach the base, is a bit cumbersome. That said, it's a very cool looking 'night light', and could be used year round. Metal base, nice color, and for $2 you can't beat the price!

Nostalgia DanaI grew up with the cable candles lit in the windows. I saw these in store and they are perfect for what I wanted them for. They definitely bring the hygge to my home and bring back childhood memories. I don't care about all the timer talk. It's not a big deal for me. I didn't see anything that mentioned a timer setting in the Live Oak store. It's the ambience I wanted and that's what I get with these.
