I really like the versatility of the drawers locking to prevent accidents or, I can use the option to allow all of the drawers to open at once (not that I’d need that). I’ve owned a Malm set (a king set and this set) for the last 12 years but I love this upgraded line that IKEA produced.5
Recommend task rabbitChamieseAfter a week of planning my room update and dozens of pins on Pinterest, I finally ordered this dresser. Once the email confirmation came, I picked it and put my phone on DND. I turned on some dance music, grabbed my disco lights and followed the directions meticulously. For about an hour I went piece by piece to ensure accuracy. When it came time for box two, the entire structure fell apart. I tried relentlessly to make this happen. Admitting defeat, I packed all the pieces and returned. Next time I will solicit the assistance of a professional.1

An amazingly built chestJohnI have not purchased a chest or cabinet unit from IKEA in a long time. I was surprised how over engineered this chest it. It has an extremely thick floor base as well as thick back panels. I recall purchasing units with extremely thin back panels and bases the same thickness of a shelf. This unit is heavy because of the base thickness - I can't imagine it tipping over. The overall quality is perfect - every piece fit together exactly. This piece will last a long time and is not a cheap disposable chest. Only the price was cheap!5
Completely fine dresserJudiThis dresser was exactly what I would expect from Ikea. Fairly easy to put together, if you've ever assembled anything from Ikea before, you'll be fine. Very sturdy and looks clean and neat once it's finished. This is not a solid wood dresser, but for the price point, it's pretty nice.4
Not goodAliciaOf all the ikea furniture I have. This was the worst to assemble. The holes were not properly lined up, was literally crumbling - while hammering and screwing, wood flaking everywhere. I have many pieces from the Malm collection and have never had this problem. Save your money 1
Disappointed LaurenI was so excited to add this to my room. Spent an hour putting just the first part together JUST for the wrong pieces to have come in my order. Not just one, but TWO wrong boards were given making the dresser completely unusable. I’m very very disappointed as this is my first time buying from ikea :(… now have to go through the trouble of driving an hour to the store and handing the return. 1

Okay but…LaneThe top of my nightstand came damaged with the corner torn up and a marker drawn on it. You’d think they’d make sure there’s no markings on the furniture before they ship it off. I filed a report and was told I’d receive the new part soon but I have yet to hear anything. So i’m not sure if I’ll buy anymore furniture from ikea. The nightstand looks great though except for the damaged top with the markings on it. 3

Perfect nightstandsMaria TAlthough they are listed as a chest of drawers, the height and width are perfect fit by the side of the bed. The drawers are perfect size, open and close with ease. All in all, price and quality are well matched. We assembled them ourselves with no problems at all. 5

Not as expectedKarenIt has been a couple of years since I purchased furniture from IKEA and was unpleasantly surprised with the changes I see now. A lot of their fasteners have been replaced for plastic and the parts appear to only have a thin layer of paint. This dresser was a bit complicated to put together and easily scratched. It was also flakey, so it made a mess and I got a couple of splinters on my hands. I do like that it is spacious and has a modern look. Overall, I would not repurchase this item.3
What happened to MALM?AgataI bought this by accident when looking for another malm dresser to put right next to my other malm dresser that I bought few months ago. I literally searches for MALM dresser and clicked on a picture that look exactly like it. After setting everything up I quickly realized something is off. The height is different, color is different and the front of the drawer is different as well. I feel betrayed. I really need another MALM. Also the safety feature absolutely sucks1
