Buy now, Cry laterEllieWhat a huge disappointment these slipcovers are, they’ve made the purchase of 4 Soderhamn sofas considerably more expensive than the original price. The first purchase of the original smooth gray covers failed before the 12 month mark with the zips breaking
and the cheap plastic underside fabric disintegrating into powder causing the large seat cushions to slide around and off the sofa when in use. The second purchase of replacement covers were of identical quality and utilized the same disintegrating underside fabric and faulty zips and unfortunately they started to fail right after the possibility of return. Now I’m looking to offload this troublesome sofa, it permanently looks like a mess and I no longer trust the manufacturer to produce a product that has any degree of longevity.1
Cheaply made Base coverIsabellaThe base of the cover, where you attach the seat cushion to the base of the furniture, is made with very cheap rippable fabric and then ikea won't sell that part individually, having to pay for the whole set in order to replace one essential thing. You're better off buying them somewhere else1
CHANGED FABRICJocabedI don’t understand within 4 years the covers look and feel completely different than what I previously ordered. In 2021 I ordered a few pieces of the Soderhamn and today 2025, I needed an extra chair to make it longer and it doesn’t match! The one o bought before is softer and darker, does not have the course pattern. I don’t understand, I’m not sure what to do. Do I have to replace the rest of the covers to match??? Buyers beware. I wish I could add pictures.1

Too snugSuzanneI just received the gransel cover, the one that is supposed to be loose fitting and goes to the floor, because I thought it would be easier to get on an off. Unfortunately, It is super tight and looks awkward, as it does not hang down straight but rather hugs the bottom of the chair. Definitely does not fit loosely as described and depicted. I imagine it will be even worse after washing.2
