Reviews

Simple and inexpensiveNikki S.This is by far the least expensive changing table you can find. It is sturdy, easy to assemble and basic. One drawback, it does not fit the regular changing table pad IKEA sells. Our store doesn’t carry the inflatable changing pad that doesn’t fit, so, we’re just using receiving blankets. But other than that it’s great.5
Critical FlawEvan C.The changing table itself is fine, but it does not fit the changing pad that IKEA sells! Nor does it fit most standard changing pads. I don't know what changing pad is shown in the photos but I confirmed with multiple store employees that they only sell a single changing pad, which is too large for this changing table. This is an extremely poor decision on IKEA's part and needs to be rectified before I can recommend this product to anyone.1
Do not buy, unusableEduardo M.This product is unusable as changing table since it's not compatible with the standard changing pad size, and the don't sell a compatible pad.1
easy to use.cheneasy to use.5
Not Ikea's best...Jia X.Should have read the reviews first. It doesn't fit a standard changing pad. It's like 3 inches too short. It's also incredibly difficult to put together - as others have pointed out, very difficult or impossible to close the gaps between the legs and the shelves. Once assembled it does not feel stable enough to put a kid on top, especially one that's prone to thrashing about. Feels like the whole thing could topple over. Does not include any wall anchors. No idea what the designers were thinking with this one, but something tells me they probably weren't thinking at all.1
Doesn’t fit changing pads, poor constructionMatt R.It was very difficult to get the legs to sit flush against the shelves when building this (2 legs had connecting points with gaps no matter what I did). I read reviews and saw comments about changing pads not fitting and tested mine before wasting more time and, sure enough, it didn’t fit. Going straight into the recycling. Waste of money and time.1
Perfect size and priceKerry K.We wanted something compact for our space. I thought we could use the top of the dresser but this works so much better. When our baby was small (less than 4 months) we used the inflatable ikea pad. Then I bought the Compact 3-Sided Contour Changing Pad by Colgate Mattress from buy buy baby, it’s slightly narrower but we stash tubes of diaper cream in the gap, fits perfectly. Shop around and check dimensions, there are pads from other manufacturers that fit, they cost more than this changing table but I found a good deal. We also have the plastic storage bins that clip on for wipes, trash and other odds and ends.5
multi use functionJIMnice for storage & use for other easy access items5
It has a few minorRebecaIt has a few minor defects but for the price & look I decided to keep it.5
It’s fine.LeahI love IKEA. 80% of my house is IKEA furniture (beds, dressers, chairs, bookshelves, couches, dining room credenza...) But this changing table is not their best product. It’s the only IKEA product that’s ever been difficult to put together (the holes did not line up well), and it still feels kind of flimsy when finished. Plus, it’s smaller than any other changing table, so no pads fit in it (I had to cut one down and sew/hot glue it back together to make it work). It works now, but it’s not great. It’s fine. I only bought this one because I needed it at work and the regular size changing table was out of stock. Next time I’ll wait until the other one is back in stock.3
Plant stand hack!ROSE E.I am using these for my plants! Works great! Only problem is that I want 2 more and I keep getting “delivery not available to my zip code” - after already having successfully received 3!! Makes me sad. I don’t live anywhere near a store. It’s a fabulous product!!5
Perfectly simplehtwuBefore we had our baby, we thought we might use our low boy dresser or the floor to change diapers. That idea changed very quickly! My husband picked this up at IKEA the first week we were home with our baby, and now 8 months later I still love it. It's very sturdy (I lean on it frequently to play, I'm ~130lbs), and I appreciate the storage underneath. I keep wipes, baby balm, and extra diapers there. It's also very light, so it's easy to move. We did not get the changing pad, just use a folded bath towel for slight padding and a wool mat for waterproofing. Our baby is getting taller so she has bumped her head on the edges, so we want to find a solution to pad them. Currently using a folded blanket over the side. She also has a habit of kicking her legs a lot, and she bangs her feet/legs down on the edges a lot. Doesn't seem to bother her yet, although it sounds like it must hurt!5
Too small for a regular size changing padxxcasillasIt does not fit a lot of changing pad even sold by ikea! Be careful only the cheapest ikea changing pad fit this product. Hope it can be larger!!3
CfrancisI bought this about a month ago and I love it I bought a changing pad for it from amazon and cut it to fit it worked perfectly very good quality for the money spent5
Terrible size!TrishmeaneyNo standard changing pad fits this! Terrible design!1
Not standard sizeladedaI was hoping this was going to be a great and cost efficient changing table — however, please note that this does NOT fit the standard changing pad size. You would have to customize or use the inflatable pad that IKEA sells. If it wasn't for this, this would be perfect for our needs. Returned.2
CAT BEDmyexperienceWe have 3 indoor cats. They are around 10 yrs. old and love this bed. We have a chair or ottoman that helps them get down from the top. We use soft oval cat beds as inserts. We cover them with sheets or pillowcases for summer and small cozy throws for winter. We can't find good-sized cat beds anymore. We've been trying this out for a while. We will be buying the second one soon.5
Excellent affordable changing tableVerified BuyerBought this to have a second changing table right outside of our living room so we don’t have to kill our backs using other surfaces or walk baby across the house. It works great! It is a basic unit but it has plenty of space for everything you need on lower shelf. I was so pleased with the price. I think so many other people gave one star because they did not understand that it only fits with ikeas cheaper changing pad and does not fit with other brands of changing pads. Definitely worth the money!5
Non functionalDanielle31Although the design is very nice there is not a changing pad that fits this size. Why make a product intended for a purchase that is not standard size?1
SturdyKen BWe actually use this for a microwave cart in our kitchen and it works great5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.

Quality

A nice, safe place

The changing table should be a secure place where you and your baby can get to know one another in peace and quiet. That's why we test all our changing tables to ensure they are stable, durable and comfortable to use. You can also increase safety even more by fastening the changing table to the wall with the accompanying safety brackets. Our changing tables also have convenient storage compartments, which means that you can reach what you need - and always keep one hand on the baby.
