BIASED AGAINST SHORT PEOPLESabrinaAbsolutely no where in the specs does it say you have to be 5’5+ to be able to turn this lamp on. Its incredibly disgusting that I come from a family of 5’3 and under and none of us are able to use the lamp.

Worst IKEA purchase everBarbaraThis lamp is so flimsy and does not hold the weight of the shade. Worthless. The lamp bends with the weight of the shade. I’m returning - of course it’s a nightmare to return because I live two hours away from the nearest IKEA ams ordered this online. Only in person returns are an option. It’s so awful I wouldn’t even try “pawning” it off on anyone. Do not waste your money.
Misleading product photosAllisonLike some other reviewers have noted--the bending arm bends wayyyy more in real life than in the product photo. We had to put the base behind a stool with a heavy plant on top to keep the shade from hanging too low.

It only sits about 2 feet above my couch, which is just ridiculous. It’s also so unbalanced it literally fell on top of my child out of nowhere while he was walking by it. When I reached out to customer service, I was simply told that “ I would like to inform you that the SKAFTET arched base with SKOTTORP shade is marketed in IKEA’s photos as tall and gently curved, but in practice many customers find it looks lower and more dramatically arched once assembled.” so essentially, IKEA engaged in false advertising… Pretty disappointing.

Sad Sagging LampJasonDon't let the catalog pictures fool you. The lamp has so much bend in it, that if it is near a seating area then the lamp shade will be about 12 inches above your head when sitting in a chair or on a sofa. The the item in the catalog picture must have used a heavier gauge metal for the lamp pole than what they use now.

Love the light! AnonymousThe light looks beautiful in our living room. Putting the shade together was a bit funky, but it turned out ok. The shade comes flat and you put it together - I did damage it a little trying to get together. I’ve never seen a shade like this before.

FYI - The switch is in a weird place!!LucyYou have to reach through the lampshade to reach the switch to turn the lamp on and off, there isn't a switch on the cable at the base. I totally missed this feature and will make it work with a plug adapter switch, but it's an odd placement.
Otherwise the lamp was the height I wanted without paying an astronomical amount.
