SektionBelindaExcellent design, functional, beautiful, and good value.5
used it for window storage benchnsdc104Sturdier than I thought easy to assemble - had to finagle the bottom back since there's gaps for ventilation and their wall attachment system4
Great cabinetKarllasbooksThis cabinet is part of my new kitchen and I am glad I went the IKEA way. I put the cabinets together myself and had someone else do the rest. The cabinets are designed to be square and are a good buy. The installation went without any problems. There was a small area open because of the size of the kitchen and the unusual equipment installed, so there is now a little cubby hole with door for a stepping stool. Because IKEA has extra sheets of material available, these little inventive ideas fit right in and nobody will know that the little cabinet was an afterthought.5
Bottom of shelf sagged badly within a few months.ReasonablepersonI have a 36-wide Sektion cabinet above my refrigerator that I filled with vases after I moved in. I'm not sure when the sagging started, but it couldn't have been more than 6 months before the middle portion was a good half-inch lower than the corners at the sides. While the vases are heavy, they're not nearly as heavy as if I'd filled the cabinet with dishes or pantry items. Once I noticed the problem, I re-arranged things so as to fill the cabinet with light-weight baskets. However, it is ridiculous to make cabinets out of materials that cannot perform the functions that kitchen cabinets are supposed to fulfill. I'm having a similar problem with the drawers – I put dishes in a base cabinet drawer, and the draw started looking lower on one side (the crack above the top of the drawer face was widening). As a result, I now keep some of the drawers partly empty, to avoid having too much weight in them. Needless to say, this is disappointing. I love the way the cabinets look; but the limited functionality raises a serious objection.1
Olenka7Very convenient, closed door cabinets give any room neat appearance5
Sturdy CabinetwtfmeI purchased these for extra storage in the laundry room. Absolutely love them! They're deep enough to store the bulkier cleaning/laundry items that are usually hard to find a storage spot for. Also, makes it easier to reach laundry supplies over the washer! Perfect for the application I purchased them for!5
Look Great!Dle1These cabinets look awesome. My husband and son assembled with no problems. IKEA personnel is very helpful.5

A kitchen that took us around the world

Whatever your dream kitchen is, it’s probably different from many other people’s dreams. This we learned when researching kitchen desires around the globe. Our conclusion for the SEKTION kitchen system: it should make it possible to design the best kitchen for you – whatever your preferences and living situation.

Our ambition is to help as many as possible to have a kitchen they'd love to be in. We started sketching. “When we created SEKTION, it was our biggest ever kitchen change, so it's fair to say we were very keen to get it right,” says technician Klas-Ola Nilsson.

Research from around the world

So, what would people’s dream kitchen be like? We surveyed thousands of people, visited hundreds of homes and worked with food industry professionals. “We found if there's one thing in common with kitchens around the world it's that they're different.” Klas-Ola says. “For as many people who dream of an open space kitchen, there are people with a small space, or have to fit a pre-existing room.”

From research to result

One element became blindingly important. “We realized we needed a kitchen system that could adapt to different sized spaces in a way that hadn't been done before,” Klas-Ola says. “So, we developed cabinets that could fit almost anywhere.” Different sizes can be mixed to best fit the room and they'll still fit together – without odd ends. The clever inside can be personalized to support your kitchen needs and activities, too.

Ready for the future

An adaptable kitchen fits better with how you like to cook, both now and in the future. Whether you start craving a more professional kitchen, or just want to start using it for more activities, we would love SEKTION to help out. “There's nothing to say that SEKTION is set and fixed now,” Klas-Ola says. “It's something that's evolving and that we're developing as our ideas on what a kitchen should do changes into the future.”
