Extraneous Item You'll End Up ReturningJaneSilverLakeSimilar to other reviews, but I just want to clarify: if you order a SEKTION Base cabinet for sink & recycling, this piece AUTOMATICALLY comes in the package. But my Ikea cabinet installers didn't use it. Maybe the piece was waiting for the countertop/sink installers to use? But after they came, installed and went, it ended up in the unnecessary; not needed, return these pile. If you buy your sink outside Ikea, its package will come with one, and your countertop installers, who install your sink at the same time, will use the one in the sink package instead. Mine did.2
Purpose and installation are mysteriousNevetsApparently this is to add strength and ventilation, but the install instructions are extra cryptic. I guess if my house burns down, it didn't get installed right.1
Terrible DescriptionNfshackerIts just a useless piece for me now, literally found out what it was for after google-ling the IKEA part number, but that's after completing my whole kitchen and finding this as a left over piece, Honestly there's no need for this junk2
For those who do not understand what this is for.xkokopopxThis rail replaces the rail that comes with a base sink or cooktop cabinet. Of course you wont find that out until you put it all together =D Supposed to be stronger to hold the weight of a sink. You will not need this part if you are only installing a counter top.5
Not sure how this part helps.DyierThe instructions do not describe the purpose of this part if using the base cabinet for a sink and have doors all the way up the front of the cabinet. We were provided with 2 of these rails, but when using on the back, we are not able to assemble the back panel. If we are installing this wrong, there are not enough instructions to assist and customer service number is at least a 35 minute wait on hold. Lease impressive part of the whole ikea dyi experience so far; poor communication on part purpose and customer service.1

Our conclusion for the SEKTION kitchen system: it should make it possible to design the best kitchen for you – whatever your preferences and living situation.

Our ambition is to help as many as possible to have a kitchen they'd love to be in. We started sketching. “When we created SEKTION, it was our biggest ever kitchen change, so it's fair to say we were very keen to get it right,” says technician Klas-Ola Nilsson.

Research from around the world

So, what would people’s dream kitchen be like? We surveyed thousands of people, visited hundreds of homes and worked with food industry professionals. “We found if there's one thing in common with kitchens around the world it's that they're different.” Klas-Ola says. “For as many people who dream of an open space kitchen, there are people with a small space, or have to fit a pre-existing room.”

From research to result

One element became blindingly important. “We realized we needed a kitchen system that could adapt to different sized spaces in a way that hadn't been done before,” Klas-Ola says. “So, we developed cabinets that could fit almost anywhere.” Different sizes can be mixed to best fit the room and they'll still fit together – without odd ends. The clever inside can be personalized to support your kitchen needs and activities, too.

Ready for the future

An adaptable kitchen fits better with how you like to cook, both now and in the future. Whether you start craving a more professional kitchen, or just want to start using it for more activities, we would love SEKTION to help out. “There's nothing to say that SEKTION is set and fixed now,” Klas-Ola says. “It's something that's evolving and that we're developing as our ideas on what a kitchen should do changes into the future.”
