Ranarp lampAnonymous reviewerLike most of the reviewers here, my white Ranarp lamp was great until it wasn't. I only got this lamp 2 years ago. Recently the lamp pole became loosely attached to the base, and as others have found, it is literally impossible to screw the connection tight again, or to take the lamp apart into pieces. What were they thinking? Why make it impossible to tighten or loosen a lamp? I paid nearly $70 for this lamp and expected it to last for more than 2 years. I won't be buying at Ikea any more, their production quality has become poor and disappointing. I'm left with a reading lamp that's leaning dangerously with no way to fix it, and now I need a new lamp.1
I can see again!! StephanieThis is a great reading lamp that is next to my couch. It looks wonderful and is very well built! No tipping over because of the heavy base. 5
Lights up the room.JonathanUsing this as the only lamp in the room, it can be faced upwards to illuminate the whole room, or rotated downwards for focused light for reading…and it’s a great value at its price point.5
Positive ReviewAnonymousNeeded lighting for our couch with no room for a side table. This lamp works perfectly. The cord has black and white weaved detail that feels and looks of quality. Easy to assemble. Only issue is the recommended bulb (sold at IKEA) is a colder white light that is too bright. Humans want and need golden, soft light. IKEA needs to change all of their bulbs to a more natural and pleasing light. 4
Excellent reading lampDouglasBought this lamp after reading several reviews praising it's quality and effectiveness. Very satisfied with the purchase. Construction is high quality, assembly is simple and straightforward. Lamp provides great targeted light and can be positioned in a variety of ways to meet lighting needs. Good looking but not unobtrusive.5
Good lamp but doesn't adjust easily.FrankGenerally good quality but lacking in refined details, wires show should be concealed.4
Style 5 stars, function 2 starsJessicaI split the difference for my rating, the style is superb but the function is lacking. It has looked crooked from the start, no matter how I adjust the arm or angle, it droops. It’s really unfortunate both b/c of how cute it is and b/c it works well enough that I struggle with throwing it out. It’s too much of a hassle to return, if even allowed. Sadly I’d caution against this lamp unless the leaning isn’t a bother. It doesn’t interfere with using it as a simple source of light, but it hurts my brain every time I look at it from the indecision of how to resolve it. If you’re prone to neurotic fixation, skip this. If you have uneven floors, this is the perfect lamp for you, as long as you can position it towards the incline, lol. 3
Awesome floor lamp..LynnI have 2 floor lamps like this and 1 desk lamp.. love this lamp!5
Can't be tightened enough to hold up light bulbMaryI'm using this lamp as an adjustable grow light with the GE Grow Light PAR38 bulb. Unfortunately, this lamp can't keep its head up because the PAR38 is a little bit too heavy for it. I had to use wire to tie the arm against the stem to keep it in place. The lamp provides enough power to the bulb but can't keep it in place. 4
Just what I neededDanielAll my reading lamp efforts have been unsatisfactory. This one hit the spot for positioning, brightness, and not reflecting off my TV screen. Only downside is the switch is on the pole. Rather than reach back for the switch, I plugged it into a remotely operated switch that is chair side and includes buttons for four other area lights, including a bedroom light.5
Sort of made it to the 3 year markLilyI loved this piece of furniture when I didn't move it. And then I moved it and stripped the screw part of the cantilever accidentally and it just sits next to me limp and sad. It's great if you plan on literally never touching it again and it's adjusted just right, but unfortunately I don't think it's the greatest lamp ever. Just save yourself the heartache of losing a perfectly functional lamp by getting something that is straight/has as few moving parts as possible. It still looks cute even if it looks like the sad Pixar lamp. Beyond the technical challenges I had with it, the weight of the lamp is great and it doesn't feel poor quality unless you mess it up like I did. At the time, I think it was around $45, but I don't think it's worth more.
Also, the white interior of the lamp is so bright that you should get a bulb about half as bright as you want. 3
Fantastic Floor lampJenI have this floor lamp and matching desk lamp in my office and I love them both.5

Beautiful Lamp!TonyaThis lamp is gorgeous and looks great in my office. Very easy to turn off and on and the movable arm makes it very easy to focus the light.5
It's fine but overpricedMatthewLike practically everything at ikea this is now overpriced by at least 20%. It's fine, it's a lamp. Nothing special3
Floor lampAnonymousEasy to assemble, sturdy, attractive, love it!5
Stylish and very functionalAnonymousI love this lamp! It's got a place of honor at my desk, for when I need additional light. The arm adjusts longer/shorter as well as up/down so it can be positioned exactly where you need it, and I'm very picky on my lighting.5
