Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

Straight to the garbageJohnI’d love to know which genius thought to themselves “let’s make a product that people want to buy, but is literally impossible to use!” I bought this piece of garbage, and once I got to putting some batteries in there, what do you know, they cannot both physically go in! I placed one in, it got caught on the cap, because that genius who designed this decided the cap should go inwards to the battery slot, even though there is only enough space for the length of one battery to fit between it. I wasted my money on this junk. I’m sure a kindergartner could make something that works better than this.
Batteries won’t fitRobertI’m surprised with all the negative reviews on this product that it is still offered for sale. Simply put, when the cover for the batteries is open, a lip prevents the second battery from being inserted. This product seems up have not been put through the simplest of product testing. I bought it in Michigan, and noticed it is not offered for sale in my local Maryland store nor for delivery so maybe it’s being pulled.
It works and it’s a bargain for $3SallieI bought several of these in the past for $2 and they quickly died. The $3 model seems to doing great so far.

The battery installment is the only problemYayoiThe batteries installation required a lot of effort. You have to really push the first battery inside and even after the second one goes in, now you have to really push the cover so that it closes. I was afraid it might break, which many who bought this might experience. I also wondered if the AA batteries were the right ones to use. This was a bit of a rare frustrating experience while I love IKEA for the ease of assembling furnitures overall.

Battery Installation Difficulties!PerryAfter spending 20 frustrating minutes wrestling with this thing, I finally figured how to install the batteries. You have to make certain the first battery “clicks” into place by pressing it firmly toward the inner wall at the hinged end of the cap. If you don’t do this, there won’t be room for the second battery. BUT, the opening really isn’t large enough for most human beings to do this with a finger, so you’ll need use something rigid and thin enough to reach inside the casing. I used a specialized knife I happen to own. Whatever you use, it is NOT easy and there is no intuitive way to know what is required. IKEA definitely should redesign this product, making battery installation simpler. The good news is it does work once you figure out how to install the batteries.
Got a coupleHarpreetOne for me n one for mom, we both love these little frothers from IKEA cuz these are good for small coffee mugs. The others from big brands are great n super fast but they make a mess n overspill the liquids from mugs. Good for jugs though. So i stick with this for my morning milk coffee :)
