Love, after correcting defective holesTrennaLike others have found, ours had misaligned holes. It was more well-sanded than other pine items bought at the same time though (this has declined so much over the years) and less "green" (sticky, pitchy). While the compartment on the bench version is a little narrow to be really useful for stuff you need in bench-land, on this little stool it's great. While assembling all our IKEA haul it held the tools and was, of course, the place to sit or set stuff. Afterward it's been an end table in the living room that gets pulled out for extra seating, or to be the project container/place to sit. We'll probably be buying another. Would love to see the gap in the "seat" closed a little, and a deeper version of the bench in this collection (one that shoes fit into). It'd be 6 stars if IKEA weren't struggling so much with pine products these days.4
Pleased with Perjohan, I used power tool and T25 bit.LauraIt took me 45 minutes to put this stool together. I placed on a thick carpet. I used a bit of glue on the dowels because I live in dry climate. Use care when using power tools when tightening screws. Pine is soft wood and you can easily over do it and it will crack or split. I did a bit of sanding before I assembled to get the manufacturing leftovers removed. I plan to stain and seal it. I read all the directions first. Checked hole alignment for screws and dowels before assembly. Used power driver and bit T25 because it is easier on my hands. Very happy with this product.5
Poorly constructed and overpricedJulieFool me once and all that, yes I paid $60 for a few pieces of pine, but I thought with Ikea I'd at least get the convenience of something that would arrive quickly and be easy to assemble.
Fool me twice. This is a continuing issue I've had with Ikea products. The holes are so often misaligned or the pre-drilled holes are so shallow that I'm using all my strength to put it together. I'm working hard for a STOOL. Is it so much to ask that the holes align? If they're going to be out of place maybe we just forgo the studs?
There's got to be a better solution than forcing me to get out my power drill in the face of those cheery little fella drawings telling me all I need is the allen key. PLEASE stop doing this, please quality check these products for ease of assembly or start shipping me a power drill as part of the hardware.3

This item was easy to assemble, the instructions were straightforward, and it didn't take more than an hour to put together. The end result is sturdy and high quality, and as an added bonus, made my room smell like wood for a few days after I built it. The wood is smooth, and not prone to giving anyone splinters. The underneath storage compartment is extremely handy, and I find myself using it constantly, for various things. Additionally, the carrying handle in the seat of the stool makes it easy to move around and reposition, and it's not very heavy, either. I love the Perjohan.5
Misaligned Holes, but Still Like It!AnnaThis stool is just what I needed and I like it—I just bought and put two of them together today. In both stools, some of the holes were misaligned, which made them a challenge to assemble. I took out the wooden pegs so I could line up the screw holes and that worked fine. It was hella hard to screw all the screws in, but with some major elbow grease and a real wrench with a hex head, I was able to get it done. Overall, I am pleased. I look forward to painting them!4
Impossible to screw in bolts100rodstewart!I purchased the same bench two years ago and it was a cinch to assemble. I decided to buy another one this month. Unfortunately, it was not crafted as well as the previous one, and the holes did not match up with the screws at all. This made the assembly an aggravating process and I finally gave up. It’s a shame because this bench is very sturdy and well-made. I don’t recommend it because of the poor assembly.3

Excellent Quality DennisI purchased the longer Wooden bench for our entryway to make it easier to put on and take off boots and shoes. We liked its design fit and function so well that we ordered the smaller bench for the bedroom. Easy to assemble as all parts and attachment points are mated with precision.
