Pax Wardrobe Frame ReviewMomofshamusThis was a great purchase to work into my closet remodel. Sturdy and easy to put together.5
Just what I neededcuratestewartI brought this about a month ago and it was just what I needed for my store organization and my personal things in my office5
Flimsy & Undependablee2e50I bought this unit, plus some shelves and doors, to serve as a storage unit in my home office. I never finished the complete assembly - it became obvious that the unit is too flimsy for my use. The shelf supports seem substandard for the size and weight of the shelves - the second shelf I installed collapsed, dislodged the first shelf, and blew out a section of the super thin back that's provided for the cabinet. Speaking of the back, it's normally rigid and made of one piece in order to provide structural support and help square the cabinet. The one that is provided is extremely thin and flexible - it's actually two pieces hinged together with a tape strip & folded to fit in the box. The cabinet was out of square after initial assembly and I wasn't able to align the doors despite making the maximum adjustments allowable on the hinges. Very frustrating experience, especially since I paid $100 to have this shipped due to the size & weight - delivery took a month, and I even had to make a long drive to IKEA to replace a side panel damaged in shipment. I was finally able to return the doors and shelves for a refund, but the cabinet was too large for my vehicle, and a rental truck would cost as much as the value of the refund. So that's going in the garbage. Waste of money - lesson learned.1
Stick to solid woodphysicistThis is made of particle board. Frame needs more support. One frame was destroyed raising moving it upright. If you get it upright, then it may be ok. Wood instead of particle board would make this much more sturdy and better quality.1
great if you can get a working onejj1988I bought 3 of these, out of those 3, 2 worked just fine. the final one fell apart as soon as I lifted it off the ground and onto its bottom, the screws stripping from the wood. also, nailing in the back pieces takes forever. is there not a way we can slide it in??2
Love it!! It fits great in my kitchenPandagirl819Love the size, I have a smaller kitchen with very little cabinet space so I store dry foods & such on this, my 18 year old has a snack shelf & we love it. We had a cheaper durable plastic shelf from Sam's club there prior but the shelving wasn't flat so not everything sat completely level. But my kitchen is white so this just really added a really clean look & everyone who initially sees it thinks it is a build in next to my fridge. **I did buy doors but I wouldn't of been able to open 1 of the doors anyway so I left them off for now until we move & bought quite closing hardware.5
Great--if you like BROKEN SENTIMENTAL GIFTSlegalduck15I've had this product for just over a year and was assembled correctly. I have three shelves and have been using it for storage of sentimental items (Christmas decorations, birthday gifts, etc) since my purchase. Today, completely out of the blue (I hadn't opened the wardrobe in well over a week), the pegs for the top shelf dislodged on their own on one side, causing the shelf to violently crash into the second shelf, and the second shelf into the third. Most of my candles and Christmas decorations are now SHATTERED. My law school diploma is heavily damaged. The unit itself now is practically unusable because the shelves all splintered from impact. This thing is a filmy piece of JUNK, especially considering the obscene price once you account for the hinges, doors, and shelves. Of course it happens just outside of the warranty window. Believe you me, this is the last purchase I will ever make from Ikea.1
Closet looks awesome!D HudI bought this a few weeks ago and put the unit up immediately. I just wish the unit depths came in another size between 13 and 22. I really love my closet!5
PAX Directions Changed ?Kat IkeaAll was good, but the directions order may have changed. I had a real tough time (this time) getting the feet in the (1) right area and (2) hammered in. In the past other inserts were done which signaled not put put those other parts there. But I could see why they may have changed the order since you need to flip the board around. Other than that - I was finally successful. Cabinet looks great! :P4
love the size-scratches easilyMPantzGreat wardrobe. Perfect size for me. When installing drawers, the finish can scratch very easily.4
Excellent systemCrowlandThe IKEA closet systems are easy to assemble, easy to install. Lots of options working together to make a no nonsense but elegant addition to any closet!5
Rock the PAXGrumpy BearBought 1 large unit, it worked so well we went out and bought a 2nd. Well constructed, really helped organized our closets, incredibly easy to assemble with the instructions and exta 'tools'.5

LOOKS GOOD BUT NOT THE BEST QUALITY FOR THE MONEYSHANA14I HAVE TO SAY I WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY. I WOULD RATHER THEY CHARGE A BIT MORE MONEY BUT GIVE ME MORE QUALITY PERTAINING TO HIGHER STRENGTH MATERIALS. PIECES CHIP AND OR BREAK EVEN WHEN BEING CAREFUL DURING ASSEMBLY.2
Very solidJohnnyBHeartRe-did a walk in with these and so far it beats the price of any custom by thousands.4
Too thin woodCkim1234I like it but the wood pieces are very think. So you can’t put too heavy stuff on top of them. Otherwise, the wood curves.3
Nine years later...HomebytheparkNine years ago we purchased our condo for its location, not its livability. It had a minimum of storage. We soon remedied that with 3 PAX Wardrobes. Recently we had occasion to add a 4th wardrobe, joining a small one to one of our large ones. The original wardrobes were excellent with their hardware and finish had aging acceptably. The new unit is equally well made and attached perfectly to the original one. The new wardrobe's self-closing hinges and drawer hardware are such a nice touch, I was tempted to replace all my original, perfectly functioning ones :)5
PAX system is just OKKellySSSI put PAX closet systems in 2 bedrooms, using 13 units (4 doubles, 5 singles) . The 39 double frame sizes are not very strong, I've already had some shelves collapse from putting boxes of papers on them. They are fine to hold some folded sweaters but heavy things (like boxes of financial records) can only go on the bottom. If I had realized this I would have used some the Sektion kitchen pantry system, though of course those cost more.3

Because one size doesn't fit all

Have a little look around — not too obviously, just a peek. Chances are, even if it's just different colored socks or another color of scarf, there's no one dressing exactly the same as you right now.  Read More
Which is why it stands to reason that our clothes storage shouldn't be exactly the same either. It's this idea that led us to develop the PAX/KOMPLEMENT clothes and shoes storage. Designed so that no matter what your passion, fashion or personality, your clothes and accessories will have a practical home.

The evolution of storage

It just takes a look through a photo album to see that some of the clothes we used to love might make us wonder 'what was I thinking?' today. And as the way we dress has changed over the years, so too has our approach to making storage at IKEA. That's why we've designed PAX/KOMPLEMENT clothes and shoes storage to adapt to how you would like to store your things, rather than trying to fit your clothes and accessories into an unsuitable space. An idea that's shaped its whole development.

The only similarity is difference

“Most people dream of having an organized wardrobe where they can see all their clothes and accessories. But that's where the similarities end", says Betina Tviis Larsson who developed the PAX/KOMPLEMENT system. Traditional storage often shoehorns you into doing things a set way, whether its folding t-shirts or sorting out a sock drawer – something Betina wanted PAX/KOMPLEMENT to step away from. "We didn't want to say there's a right way or wrong way to organize your clothes. If you want to hang your jeans by their belt loops we want you to be able to do it”, Betina says.

Multiple personality order

To get the design process off on the right foot, the design team focused on what kinds of storage do different people need. "We started by speaking to a lot different people in the team and around IKEA to try and determine different personalities and different needs", Betina explains. And what we ending up with was this a big inventory of preferences and types of things that needed to be stored". By designing around personalities, the team started to develop types of storage that would fit collectors and families just as easily as minimalists and people with very little space. "The whole idea that defined the project became, don't change your personality, change your wardrobe instead", Betina says.

Fitting in function

Bringing this research together, the result is a series of interior organizers that can be adapted for particular uses, from multi-purpose drawers and hangers, to specific features for everything from shoes, to pants, to jewelry. The idea is that each organizer can be mixed or repeated as you choose, so if you want to store your whole sneaker collection inside, or have everything hanging, you can. "I really like to use space in a good way", Betina says. "With this system you can tailor your one wardrobe frame into hundreds of combinations." So whether you're a 'super organizer' or a 'piler' type of clothes person we hope you'll be able to match your storage to suit your style.
