New design’s assembly is atrocious - Bring back the old design NilsWe have several rooms full of Pax, but this is the first time we have bought a new frame in two years. Since then, the assembly has gone from very easy, assemble on the ground with proper metal screws and then lift it into place to install the unit upright with janky plastic bobs. It is less sturdy and also easily increased the complexity of assembly by double if not triple because lining things up while fighting gravity is a dumb idea.
We had to reinforce the “pax closet floor” as well as it just sits on the two 1/2 inch lips made by the small bottom cross pieces. This would not hold anything remotely heavy. Literally, it just sits, not even plastic bobs to secure it - we could pull it out pretty easily.
Just disappointing given how great the old designs and assembly were. Ikea you broke your best product - you should fix it by bringing it back to the old assembly hardware and process - the new reviews are consistently horrible to prove my point.
Worst assembly design ever PawelWhoever design the assembly for pax closet system should be out of the job, this is the worst design ever, the old way of putting closets was the best and i did A LOT of them, who in the hell will be lifting the whole closet to have it put in place with the backboard attached to it, this is very difficult to do. They replaced the bolts and screws with some plastic snapping system, that you will not be able to disassemble the piece and move it, if it needs to be. The Ikea furniture's are made out of o paper as is, and now You cant move them for sure (maybe that's the plan), so you can buy more of the paper furniture.
Bring back the old way if its not broken, don't fixit. Not buying form Ikea any more the product is degrading and the price keeps going up, i use to by the pax box closet for a $100, Now $170 FOR WHAT ? PAPER!

Scuffed and missing parts , unclear instructionsSamanthaIn the instructions it doesn't show all the actual wood pieces that are part of the cabinet. We were missing an essential piece so we had to contact support. Additionally, it came with a few scratches on the surface.
When assembling furniture from IKEA, it's important to follow the instructions carefully. However, sometimes these instructions may not be completely accurate or comprehensive. This was the case for one user who noticed that not all of the actual wood pieces needed for their cabinet were displayed in the instructions. We had to contact support. Additionally, the white parts of the cabinet were marked by blue ink. I guess you get what you paid for?
Poor customer service to resolve design/manufacturing defect.NicoleThis is essentially a good product, but the back panel of the cabinet is hinged down the center and there is insufficient tension for it to remain flat once the cabinet is assembled: it springs forward at the center. With our closet containing multiple PAX units now fully assembled, it is not practical to remove/replace this unit, so a simple resolution would be to add a glass shelf at half height to keep the back panel in place while
preserving the view of the lower hanger rail. I asked customer support (chat) for them to send a shelf, but they said they could not as it was not on the PAX parts list. Next I asked for a credit to order a shelf myself, but that too was not possible. I was assured that the store would call me to resolve the issue, but I have received no such call. We really like IKEA's products, but their ordering/stocking systems and their customer support are frequently problematic.

Perfect BetsyI went online to IKEA and put together my personal wall unit. I customized it to what I needed. I chatted with an agent online with questions and received awesome support and ideas. I completed the 'building' phase and went through with the order. I am so very pleased with my wall unit. My family and friends are as excited as I am. Several want to now do the same and build their own customized wall units. This has absolutely made my bedroom into a dream come true. I have plenty of closet space, drawers, shelves. Everything is solid construction. The measurements were spot on. This is so well worth the money invested!! It transformed the bedroom and lack of closet/drawer space into a bedroom straight out of a home beautiful magazine and cost soo much less than if we would have had someone come in and build it. We couldn't have done this any cheaper ourselves and it would have NOT been this nice. The whole experience was absolutely perfect!!!
Please bring back the old design!CindyI really like the look of the pax system it is sturdy and clean looking. However, the new book open idea is cumbersome to handle and confusing to work with. I wouldn't have been able to align it properly without the aid of someone's YouTube video. Please bring back the old design!

PAX 2.0 is a terrible redesignAndreasHave 10+ PAX closet in my house and have put together dozens of these over the years. Just bought 4 more and found out the hard way that IKEA decided to change from a great design to a terrible one. The new wall mounted design is complicated to say the least, the old design was easy to assemble and solid, this is flimsy and REQUIRES attaching it to the wall as part of putting it together, which means it has to be assembled upright instead of the floor. They have one manual for all sizes just making it even worse. Why would you change a great design that people love to this? Epic level fail. Bring back the original Pax. People DO NOT BUY!!
In general we're loving these.Anonymous reviewerInstalling Pax in our closets has made a more efficient tidy way to use what was a big open area with lots of wasted space. This particular item arrived broken, as the strap around the frame was not on it, resulting in the folding "W" shaped backing being broken off of one side.
We were able to make it work, and in general these are very easy to build and install.
Do NOT like new design!!ChristineOriginal Pax cabinets were great. New wall hanging design is terrible!! Harder to put together and seam down the back of cabinet makes it look and feel cheap. Original design sooo much better. Very disappointed in the redesign.
