Absolutely terribleMattAbsolutely terrible sensors, total waste of money. I've never had more issues with a Zigbee device in my life than I've had with these. They randomly stop working and go into a leave/rejoin loop on the Zigbee network until power cycled. Unless caught quickly, this drains the battery entirely. I'm tired of needing to power cycle them every few weeks, so I'm replacing them with something else. I thought it was an issue with a particular batch or something, but I bought two groups of sensors over a year apart, so that seems unlikely. Such a shame since they support binding to the OnOff cluster which is exceedingly rare for contact sensors, and they appear to have good build quality. Before Ikea replies about the return policy, it's not practical for me to go to Ikea to return these sensors.1
I would like to give it negative 5 starsDavidThese things burn through batteries in just a few days. It's the worst device (that I know of), that IKEA has ever made. Hopefully this device will go the way of the DoDo as soon as possible.1
Quick Battery DrainDaveThis zigbee door sensor take a AAA battery, but you are suppose to use an IKEA rechargeable battery as the sensor need the higher amount of voltage. The sensor itself takes the 3V input from the battery and uses a stepdown converter chip to reduce the voltage to 2.2V for the zigbee device, and thus isn't very efficient. If you use a standard alkaline AAA battery you'll be changing them every 1-2 weeks, which is bad! I don't recommend these door sensors unless you're ok with using rechargeable batteries and are ok with changing them frequently. Otherwise, this sensor seems to work with well with the Home Assistant hub.3
Falls off network and poor battery lifeMichaelFalls off network and stops responding to often, battery life is also poor just lasts a few weeks. I also used recommended Ikea batteries. After researching other people have the same issues. It's also slow to respond and gets stuck in the open or closed position if the state changes too quickly. This thing needs a hardware or firmware update.1
Does Exactly What I ShouldJanSuper easy setup, I like that I can use rechargeable AAA batteries5
The sensor works well but almost impossible to remove within damaging door frame.DanielThe sensor works well but almost impossible to remove within damaging door frame. Please offer version where tape is not pre-attached. I recently installed some of the PARASOLL sensor but I had to move it. The tape seemed impossible to remove. It was far stronger than the sensor housing it was attached to. I tried a bunch of chemicals to remove it. The only think that worked was heat, but it took enough heat that the doorframe started to blister before the tape gave way. Now the sensor is useless and my door is damaged. This seems to be the only IKEA sensor where the tape is already stuck to the product. All other come with the tape separately in the box. In the future, please offer this sensor with the tape separate in the box. I use command strips to attach all of my other IKEA sensors because they can be easily removed.2
works good, needs more optionsMathewSetup was easy and it responds well to opening and closing. There needs to be more customized settings for notifications and scenes. I wish it could activate smartplugs as well as lights and the ability to send notifications during custom specific hours and days of the week similar to lighting scenes. Additional customized reminder times would also be a plus.4
Will not connect reliably. SlooooowGlenn10+ attempts to link to hub. When working takes 2-3 seconds to respond. Randomly disconnects. Returning 3. Went to another brand which is fast and has been 100% reliable. 1
small footprint, cheap but also cheaply madeZivagoThe small footprint is great and it fits in a bit more places than other contact sensors (i like the more squareish design as well). It is cheap and also very cheaply made. I have noticed the battery contacts don't keep in contact with the battery as there is too much gapping -- I have had to place bit of thick foil on both ends of the battery and between the contacts to get it keep contact . So far it is keeping it tight fitted and will see how long these last.3
Small, effective, fastSeanUsed these Zigbee sensors with Hubitat and Z-Wave wall switches. No issues pairing (hold button until the light starts blinking). The rechargeable battery is a nice option but also works with a standard alkaline battery which is nice. The response time is very fast, and the magnet range is pretty good so the door closure doesn't have to be dead-on. They're much smaller than they look in the photos, basically just a small case around a AAA battery. Still, I mostly put them on the inside of doors since they're larger than some 3rd party options. I wish they were a smidge cheaper, but they have worked without issue since installation so I can't complain too much. 5
Works great with home assistantAndrewInstantly recognized by ZHA add in. Zero issues. Will buy again. 5
Often awkward placement for North American windows and doors MattyThe design assumes you have perpendicular abutting surfaces on which to mount the sensor and the contact, without overhang, overlap or molding in the way. Maybe they have a lot of these in Sweden but windows in North America haven’t been built like that for 80 years. If you want to use these, you will likely have to get creative to get the sensor and contact close enough to work.3
GreatDmitryEverything is good about this sensor, Zigbee, 1 AAA battery. Works without issues in HomeAssistant5
Great productGabrielIt's a great product overall, I feel there could be more options for when you open or close but I have now put this sensor in different parts of the house for different uses, such as monitoring access to my safe and the medicine cabinet and the size is perfect for it.5
