Reviews

Overall what was expected. Permanent fixture!ColinI don't usually write reviews, but felt compelled due to some of the negative ones on this item. This is not designed to be a free standing piece of furniture! It is like a mini kitchen counter/cabinet. It needs to fit flush to the wall, as in the baseboard trim MUST be removed. Then it MUST be anchored to the wall! After that it's rock solid and the plastic leveling feet are a non-issue. This item requires some light carpentry skill to cut the baseboard, anchor and install the drawer knobs. My only gripe is that IKEA should specifically call this out. It's certainly more involved than building a book shelf!!5
NO BACK PANELS IN THE BOTTOM. NO HOLES TO FIX KNOBSSwethaAesthetically good looking. Sturdy only if it is attached to the wall. Instruction manual is confusing. And no holes to fix shelf knobs. Lacks back panel in the bottom part of the shelf. Took around 4 hours to assemble.Needs two people to lift the upper part.4
unknown partsCarlosover all good looking cabinet. mounting it is a different story. the instruction manual is not very user friendly and the hardware packages do not come numbered. it is a major headache to figure out what screw goes where and believe me. there are dozens of them. Also, if I bought the version of this product with a sink and a faucet, I expected to have the sink hole precut into the counter top and the faucet hole drilled in place. the plastic legs that sustain the weight are too flimsy. other than that its is ok.2
Solid and bigBobIt's very nearly perfect. I wish we had some knockouts on the back or side walls to allow a power cord through. I'll probably need to drill one myself if I need it. Fastening the top and bottom together could have been a little easier but I got it done. It's a little lame that you have to buy your own handles for the draws but it does let you mix and match. Once we got stuff in it, it ain't moving!4
It's beautiful... but where are the knobs? And what's with the plastic "legs"?VelvetThis took the longest for us to assemble and for the price, it's horrible. The "legs" are made of plastic cylinders that are supposed to just stay there, no screws or anything to keep them in place so we had to build our own version using 2x4. There is also no backing and while I get it's because of the sink placement, whether or not you choose to use it as a sink, where is the backing that would further stabilize the unit? We had to buy a wooden panel to create our own backing for this one. And then when you're finally all done with it (whew!), you can't open the darn drawers and doors because there are NO knobs. I'm still figuring out how we're supposed to open the doors and drawers so if Ikea knows, I'd love to find out. 2
Kitchen hutch KellyI love this hutch. It holds many of my kitchen appliances. Nice display. Sturdy shelves to hold heavier things such as cast iron pots and mixers. 5
Excellent storage capacity TomasPros: the storage capacity is amazing. I use it as a pantry and I love it. It is beautiful and well made. It’s been about three months since I assembled it and has held up well with every day use. Cons: I assembled many pieces of IKEA furniture and this particular piece took me the longest to assemble. It took me five and a half hours with a power screwdriver. It came in four separate boxes averaging about 70-80 pounds each. It is a heavy build especially if you plan on doing it solo. My biggest complaint with this piece are the legs that hold the entire weight of the furniture. They are plastic and slipped off several times while adjusting the placement of its final position in my room. There were no screws to hold them down. If I ever need to move this it will be a huge pain because the legs/feet will 100% fall off. Some have complained about there being no back but I believe that is so because it is meant to sit flush against a wall like a kitchen cabinet. 4
Exactly what we were looking forTylerWe have a small kitchen and needed more storage and counter space. This fit the bill perfectly! It took my husband and I around 4 hours to assemble the unit and the drawers. It does NOT come with screws to secure to the wall, so we had to purchase separately (we got 4” toggle bolts). Our biggest advice is DO NOT build the entire unit and then expect to secure it to the wall afterwards, so get those mounting screws ahead of time. We had to pull it out from the wall to drill and with the entire weight of the top portion of the unit on, the legs fell off (they didn’t fall off when we only moved the bottom half earlier in the process). We had to deconstruct the entire unit from the counter top up to fix the legs and then attach to the wall. It took us around 7-8 hours total, with the leg mishap, securing to wall, and adding the knobs. Don’t skip securing this unit to the wall. Once the unit has been secured to the wall, it is solid and there’s much less side-to-side movement. 4
Don't buy itLanceI wish I would have read the reviews first. It's a good looking piece of furniture, but as others have said it's ridiculously wobbly, and the feet are terrible. Not only do they pop off easily, but you have to remove the fascia to get them back on. I have no idea why anyone would have approved this design. If it wasn't already assembled I would return it. Don't make the same mistake I did.2
Looks great PaulaLooks wonderful. It was a little hard to put together sometimes pictures are not good enough. And it needs to let you know you have to do something about your floor trim. But otherwise I love mine. 5
Nice looking piece of furnitureTimIt took me and my wife about 8 hours to assemble and it came out magnificent. Others complain about it being unstable but I think it’s a solid unit. Just make sure to secure it to the wall, as the directions call for. As far as lack of handles and pulls, I wanted a match with my existing kitchen decor so it was another plus for me. Really common with higher end cabinets anyway. 5
Really nice!ShannonThis cabinet is L A R G E so be sure to confirm the measurements before buying! It’s heavy, well made, and holds a lot of stuff. My small appliances easily fit into the cabinets and drawers. 5
IKEA should do better!Anonymous reviewerThis was just the piece I was looking for to complete my craft room. It has great proportions & is spacious, but as others have noted, the lack of a back on the lower part of the cabinet is a tragic flaw. Once assembled, the whole unit is very, very wobbly & unusable. My son had to purchase a backing board (trip to buy, measure & cut), then paint the board (so when you open the unit you don't see raw board), then haul his stapler gun & compressor over to attach. (BTW, he had to buy a new stapler gun as his was not heavy enough.) Once the board was attached, it was great. (Attaching it to the wall would have stabilized some of the wobbling, but the board is still needed.) Relying on your customers to make a $700 unit functional is wrong. As a loyal IKEA customer, I am upset & disappointed that we had to fix a problem that IKEA must have known about. I strongly suggest that you contact those customers who had to spend more money & time to make their units usable. 2
Poor stabilityJoshIt does look nice when put together which is good, but I wouldn't recommend it given the price and cost cutting measures. It doesn't come with knobs and the lack of true backing makes it very wobbly and the feet are just unbelievably cheap. I got Ikea thinking it would be a little hight quality than something off of Amazon and I was wrong.3
For $700, majorly flawed DanLooks lovely, will seemingly do its job for our space... But man is it underwhelming in practice in a few ways, as others have mentioned: --no knobs included, makes it impossible to open bottom drawers --has a lot of wobble to it, unless/until mounted... For its price, that was unexpected --stupid, cheap plastic "feet" that didn't actually attach at all (in pics they are hidden behind a piece of fascia). If the unit is not exactly where you want it when built, those feet will small off or fall out of place, requiring a ton of work --no backing to lower interior shelving... So your stuff can fall right out the back!2
Solid Except for the Flimsy FeetWilliamThis cabinet is the centerpiece of our kitchen remodel. It's solid and heavy. Like many IKEA cabinets, it wobbles. To keep it from wobbling, I secured the joints with Gorilla glue. No more wobble. The only thing that I don't like is the flimsy feet. When we righted up the cabinet, the feet broke off. When we went to move the cabinet into position, the feet broke off. As a result, I built a base frame consisting of 2x4s to support the cabinet. The other thing that I don't like is the lack of shelving. It doesn't have enough shelves. If I cannot find the appropriate IKEA shelves, I guess that I will be forced to build my own. Hope this helps.4
Beautiful but why?CamilaThis is a nice kitchenette looks great very solid but 2 things just don’t make sense on it. One if you don’t buy the knobs or handles you cannot open the doors or the drawers. Also on the bottom part, there’s no covering on the back. It’s all open. Other than those two things, which make zero sense, It’s nice. It’s also really big.2
